Scroo it. I might just splurge on a new Spector Euro. Why not. If I'm going to spend close to 800 anyways.

As a newbie....i have a sympathy for every what so called "silly" question on pro player perspective...we have to forgive that sometimes pro player forget their very first playing and knowledge of bass on the past
I was worse than you...in the first year i played bass i doesnt know 5 string bass is exist.....LOL
instead...let this post exist ...because i think you are not the only one who ask this.....but they dont ask because afraid of getting something "negative" by the pro...
at least you have your spirit to play and thirsty for knowledge....that was a good start.....

It happens. When I was new to trucking I would ask questions most super truckers would laugh at and make fun of.
I settled on a Spector Euro LX 4-string. Active P/J EMGs. Polished black neck-thru. Got a good deal on it. Most would probably go for the satin black but I like that old school polished look.

We called it "ancestor complex" when a pro or senior boast a lot to beginner in the way they shouldn't supposed to ...such as :
1. Laughing to the question that come from newbie
2.instead answering..they criticize the question itself
3. Comparing their past experience with a newbie that clearly has no experience while saying "when i was like you...i have to walk on hard ways....my past so much darker" and in the end they will say: dont waste your time...i knew the talented person when i see one
4. Saying : you dont deserve to have this magnificent / expensive <insert tool name>....it is wasted on you...buy the cheaper one....if you are really good at it....you can play as good as <insert famous person name> even by using <insert poopy tool name>
5. He thought "kids nowadays has nothing if compared to the time when i was like them...back then i was bla bla bla" then he talks about when he joins the vietnam war (and doing gigs there ?)
6. Calling their friend for laughing together

i have met several person that being like this ...and in almosy every field or hobby ...there is always at least one person who has this complex....in real world or in the internet forum....
anyway...dont hesitate to ask.....talkbass has so many nice people that can give you advice
and it's nice to know finally you have your own 4 string baby....congratulation..hope your bass last long till you give it to your son one day
