Best Bass for Punk Rock?

The response I really want to leave was pretty close to "**** you, just play" but that might get me a no-no letter from the admins.
(just sticking with the theme guys, no need to send me to the corner...)
If it feels good in your hands, sounds good in your ears, screw what anyone else has to say. Just play.
I think many have already said it, but "run what ya brung". I had a handmedown Hofner Violin bass in 1979 when I was playing punk. I had no money nor concern about what I had, just played and dealt with what I did have.
A little extra info on me...I've been playing in punk and punk ska bands for 17 years...just wanted to see what everyone else is using too. Nice to get fresh gear ideas now and again!
Theres a fella that plays Insubordination Fest every year, and every year he posts a breakdown of what gear folks are using.
Search for those threads, it'll be a decent reference of what others in the genre play.
Oh, and All Time Low and Forever the Sickest Kids are garbage pop bands. Just terrible.

Haha...never said they were good...those are just the bands I think of that call themselves punk these days.

to elaborate - ive found that if you have a band with two guitarists, a rick or a p bass fits really well, and cuts well, but if you have only one guitarist, the stingray really fills things out. example:

Just stating that when I myself (it may very for others) hear the term "modern punk" as stated before...those are the type of bands I think of. I never said I liked their music... And even if I did like their music that's for my ears to decide.
As for my own listening tastes and what I am influenced by...NOFX, MXPX, No Use For A Name, Catch 22, Operation Ivy, Mr. T Experience, H2O and others come to mind. That's my personal taste. Some like it, some don't. But, my ears dig the sound, so that's what I jam too.
And you maybe right...I don't listen to a lot of today's punk bands...too much fluffiness and those jeans are wicked tight! Lol.
That's a solid point. I like it. With one guitar the Stingray can really shine with that signature sound and add a lot of grit.
Just joined a 3 piece, maybe I'll barrow a EBMM Stingray and test out.

Ahhh.....you're missing out on a lot of great bands. Still plenty of "I don't give a ****" played really hard and fast bands out there.
Check out a band from Tucson called Bricktop. They have toured with Rancid and The Transplants who are (IMO) two of the best "old-school" punk rocks bands active today.
Im partial to stingrays. I own 2 p basses and a j but ever since i got the ray its all I want to pick up anymore.
