Best Bass for Punk Rock?

Isn't the whole punk thing about just not giving a d@mn? Seems kind of ironic to ask that, doesn't it?

The whole bad-attitude driven "street punk" image has been on it's death bed for quite a while. Thankfully now, modern punk bands care about their sound as much as your arty epic stadium rock bands.
Okay maybe not THAT much.
+1 for P Bass.
Honestly, it's subjective as hell, but...
I'd go P Bass. When I think punk bass, I think P Bass... and I think many people would agree. What P Bass, you ask? I don't care. Just make it one with a nice meaty sound, and extremely bright roundwound strings.. Rotosound Stainless Steel Swing 66s would do nicely.

I've seen alot or bands use differen basses. Rickenbacker, Musicman, and Fender basses are the most popular in the genera. I use two fender Aerodyne basses and they work great. Fast necks and have a p/j set up so there is alot of tone options. Just make sure your using a pick to get that fast attack and tone.
There is a wide spectrum of punk styles...
Street punk, gutter punk, pop punk, ska punk etc...
When I hear modern punk, personally I think of bands like Forever The Sickest Kids and All Time Low.

I mean the more modern genres of punk. Your hardcore punk, pop-punk/skate punk/punk rock, melodic punk/hardcore... pretty much anything from the early-mid ninties explosion onward.

Thats good to hear. Usually when people mention "modern" punk on here it's all pop-punk this, pop-punk that. Glad to know the diversity in the current punk scene isn't lost on everyone.
To me, modern punk is stuff like Tragedy, Martyrdöd, Hellshock, Skitsystem and so on. Louder, faster and angrier.
Yeah, I won't argue that. But when you factor in my age and what "punk" means to old guys like me, my answer hopefully makes at least a little more sense.
To the OP .... you've already got some nice basses, including the mighty P. Ignore what old farts like me say about flats on a Precision and make sure it has a set of roundwounds on it. Then rock the hell out of it.
Between string and pick up swaps, you can make just about any bass sound like any other. I'd be more concerned about my amp.
