Best Bass Grooves

Good Topic, nice submissions so far. In no particular order, but all killer:

Concrete Jungle-Bob Marley and the Wailers:

I think I could just keep going forever. One groove leading to the next. I'm also sure I've left out some big favorites. Maybe I'll do a part 2 some time.

Link Removed - Gregory Isaacs
That's Flabba on bass. Good dub reggae.
5446 - Toots and the Maytals
Funky Kingston - Toots and Maytals
Concrete Jungle - Bob Marley

Some funk.
Talking Loud and Saying Nothing - James Brown
Cissy Strut - The Meters
Hey Pocky Away - The Meters
Nappy Dugout - Funkadelic
Cosmic Slop - Funkadelic

Some jamband stuff
First Tube - Phish
Weekapaugh Groove - Phish
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider - Grateful Dead

Random alternative stuff:
Reclamation - Fugazi
Tahitian Moon - Porno For Pyros (Mike Watt on bass)
Stop. - Janes Addiction
Been Caught Stealing - Janes Addiction

Then of course there is Fela Kuti. Pretty much any song by Fela Kuti has a grooving bassline.

The groove continues to dominate pop, funk, r&b, jazz, rock, metal, latin, etc. All these genres need a good groove - most often, a song is defined by its groove. Now what is the best groove in the world? It is YOUR INDIVIDUAL GROOVE!!! It is the groove that supports and complements the guitar riff or vocal melody. I encourage you to study many different styles of music, study specific grooves, and what makes them move you.

There are so many, but here are the ones I can think off the top of my head:

Funk grooves:
Almost any tune Jaco Played on.
