Well that's fascinating. The style he's mostly playing could just as well be a wind bass (tuba) in Mexican banda music. Someone else noticed the similarity:

Best Bass Player?

What genre, how many frets, how many strings, and fretted or frettless? Acoustic or electrified? Who is the best player overall? IMO it's the person who gives it their all, in-tune, properly intonated, on-time everytime during every gig, no matter the tool(s) whom is fairly humble and respectful to the given piece/genre that get's it "everytime." Consistency wins out everytime period. Some gigs it's "you," and other times it's "me." I dig Larry Graham, other times it's Flea, sometimes it's Jack Bruce, other times it's the unsung stringed hero(es) of the bar gig. Everyone shines at different times, no matter the genre, tool, arena/venue, or overall general technical ability. One gig it's "you," another it's the "other guy," and at times it might be "me." Play it all, and play it well and it'll all "work out in the end." ...just my opinion.
here's some of them James Jamerson, Carol kaye, Paul McCarty, geezer bulter, Jon Paul Jones, bobby vega, jaco, Paul Simonon, Larry graham, roger waters, dee dee Ramone, geddy lee, and I give honorable mention to Michael Anthony, lemmy, cliff burton, steve harris, victor wooten, Doug wimblish, les claypool, flea, and Ryan martini.. Laugh all you want.. Fieldy taught me to play around the guitarist.. Lol

Who is the best Bass Player in your opinion? And please give reasons!
best is just entirely too subjective and there really is no defining criteria with which to gauge best.
However I'll play along and say that for me, Jaco was probably the best bassist there was and probably will be. For me, it's his natural feel, technical ability, knowledge of theory, and tone that probably make him number 1 all time in my book.

Probably some guy or girl who lives in a cave or a van down by the river that you've never heard or heard of and never will.
There is serious difference in two kinds of music. Bassist is gypsy and they are more influenced by trumpets and similar wind instruments. In Serbian or Balkans folk music bass is locked in with bass drum and most of the time does fifths. That dude is just showing off his chops. This is better presentation of that kind of music
