Best book on Fender Basses

I want to get a book on the history of Fender Basses (with lots of nice pictures) and would like recommendations. The Fender Bass - an Illustrated History published by Hal Leonard looks to get good reviews on Amazon. Any other recommendations?

I'm reading "How the Fender Bass Changed the World" by Jim Roberts and it would be right up your alley. Great pics and a good history lesson at the same time, easy read too. The book is not written by Fender so it's subjective and honest. Gives props to other bass manufacturers too.

If you own and read both those books, plus Standing in the Shadows of Motown by Dr Licks (the film for emotion, the book for knowledge and the CDs you can work with on your skills) you'll know a lot of what there is to know.

i've got the 'The Fender Bass - an Illustrated History' and its a very good book that i would recommend buying if your into the history and that sort of thing.

An excellent reference book.
Also 50 years of Fender by Tony Bacon

The Fender Bass by Klaus Blasquiz (Hal Leonard) is good for an overall historical perspective and includes serial number identification and color charts, useful for the collector.

I don't have The Illustrated History so not sure if it contains the same info.
