If you go to Bill Lawrence's site he talks about Jimi's use of the coiled cable to get his tone. But as I recall the coil cable really sucked. I remember it twisting up like the old telephone cords. Drove me nuts.

it's not the same cable.. the GeorgeLs cables are closer to what the original BL cables were.. but they are different also..
i have the current BL cables.. they are great.. but they are really intended for cabling racks/pedal boards IMO.. not as instrument cable.. the outer jacket on the cable is very thin and easily cut.. and it's very thin cabling.. the ends are great, i wish they were cheaper..
they are very transparent sounding cables..
Thanks for that, I was thinking about ordering some BL cable and connectors.
Which do you prefer, the .225" cables or the .155" cables?
Believe that the thinner ones get the great reviews but feel uneasy about something that's just slightly bigger than 1/8"; unless the thicker ones are real stiff or don't sound as transparent.
I would never buy a Monster cable... too much written on issues they cause equipment and too much on their business practices.
Really? Like what?

I get mine here http://greatcables.us/
Sorry, what I meant was which George L cable do you prefer; the .225 or .155?
Am thinking your photo is of the BL product.
Appreciate all the help; that stuff is tiny; can't imagine it would be happy getting yanked on stage.

google it. everything from human / employee rights issues to suing any company that uses the name "Monster" no matter what the industry used in or threatening 'intellectual property infringement' lawsuits without any real basis to using slightly oversized jacks that stretch amp/instrument jacks (I was told this by a couple tech... never witnessed it or measured it myself).
I won't use them either. Deceptive marketing, how they sue anyone who wants to use the word monster in any way even if they're so far away from anything having anything to do with audio...suing people in audio who have completely valid designs that don't infringe on either patent or trademark just to get them out of the business...the list goes on and on.
Of course, its scary that their products may damage your other gear, which is the hugest big red-light to me.
Okay, I know this has been discussed, but I don't understand the science behind it. I have some Monster bass cables (gifts from loving children), some Bayou cables I bought from Butch, and some sturdy old Road Hogs (mementos of a mis-spent youth).
I read above that I will lose treble with the Monster Cables...is this so even on short runs of 21'? Is it noticeable to those with normal hearing?
I have to admit there is a little bit of a psychological advantage when using a Monster cable...namely that I don't worry about it. If it gets caught in a bind, or the guitarist steps all over it or drops the mic stand on it, I know that if it is damaged I can have it replaced. This may sound silly, but that peace of mind has been worth something to me. Plus, they stay plugged in really well.
I love Butch's cables the best, but I tend to want to baby them, protect them from harm. I only bust them out for special occasions.
So, anyway, how much am I losing here? American Deluxe Active bass into an SVT-3 Pro, playing either flats or tapewounds. My hearing is not keen enough to tell the difference.
Whom ever suggested Redco...thank you! That is a VERY COOL site. I had read about the virtues of Canare Cable but could never find it anywhere. Does anyone have experience with the Neutrik "silent" plugs? They are twice the cost of a standard plug so I just want to justify paying the extra cost if they are decent.
The only cables I have NOT had problem with have come from Bayou Cables. Everything else ( including Monster- what a joke!) has left me wanting. Instrument cables, TRS interconnects, speaker cables, only the best for reliability, which is what I want EVERY time from a cable.
