Chipotle is owned by McDonalds and I believe it's nationwide. Living in California, there are a million fantastic authentic burrito places, but for a bit of a different taste Chipotle is a place that I dig too.

Macaroni Grill isn't bad for a chain. I don't know how widespread it is, but on the lower end of things I like Togo's.

Chipotle was never owned by McDonalds, that's a popular myth. McDonalds used to be the majority shareholder, but they divested a long time ago. Don't you ever read wikipedia?

But yeah, chipotle for sure. Depending on where you are, Chipotle normally buys all organic ingredients, including chicken/beef. Good stuff.

Close second is Chick-fil-A and this great place we have around DC called Crisp N Juicy.

Ba-Le is a Vietnamese/French bakery place that serves fast food at a pace that McD's can only dream about. Their roast beef sandwich is ambrosia.

Zippy's is the local favorite.... home cooking Hawaiian style 24/7, but mainlanders like it too. LOTS of musicians here in the middle of the night. We finally got one here on Maui..

Keep in mind that "chain restaurants" does not equate "fast food". Fleming's Steak House is a chain but probably the furthest thing from fast food you can get. Great steaks!

Subway is a great deal. You have the sandwich, and then ten hours later, after three showers, you can still smell the sandwich on your body. It's the Gift That Keeps On Giving.

And Chipotle is pretty good too. Jack in the Box has the best stoner-menu.


Subway is pretty dank too.

I'm originally from the Bay, and memories of In -N- Out still drift into my memory when I sleep

the town where i live frowns heavily on chains. not even a starbucks there (but there is a dunkin's. )
but now that the band is on the road a lot, i tell you, seeing a Subway outlet on the highway is like a beacon of quasi-freshness is the midst of all dem BKs and MickeyDs.

Taco Cabana - Great cheap Mexican food. Sadly, I don't think it extends outside of Texas, OK, an NM.

Skyline Chili - The best. Ever. I mourn not being able to get any here in Texas.

I've only seen one around here, wasn't sure they were a chain. Good stuff at good prices. They've got my approval.

+1 more for In N' Out.

And I disagree with Outback, I think Stuart Andersons/Black Angus runs circles around them, though I'm not sure if they're national or just regional.

I dig pretty much all the Mexican fast food chains (aside from those with "Taco" in their title) Baja Fresh, Rubio's, Chipotle, etc.

In terms of Burgers I've never had a bad experience at either Islands or Red Robin.

BJ's Restaurant Brewhouse is one of our favorites for Chicago style pizza and microbrews, and their nacho's used to be worth the trip alone for us....

I had whataburger when I was in Tejas and was severely disappointed. I was expecting something on the same level as In-N-Out but it wasn't even close.

Ruth's Cris - Had no idea this was a chain, but ate at one in NJ last month. Incredible.
Olive Garden - Big fan. Even though they're not as great as they used to be.
Cluck-U Chicken - All over NJ and DE. Greatest wings EVER.
Wing Zone - PA version of above wings. Good substitute.
Yocco's - Lehigh Valley, PA chain of hot dogs. Incredible.
