Individual taste is a many edged sword. Some of us wield it well, while other fall on it dramatically.
To ME, and my taste, certain colors just "sit" well with particular bass models-
Black with White Binding for a Ricky (or cream if you are Chris Squire fan, like me). Both are classic, IMHO. No other color appeals to me.
Black with White PG (or NO PG) for a J-bass (or I'll take a natural stain with no PG). I don't like any other colors.
Olympic or similar White with Black PG for a P-bass (second is Fiesta Red with White PG, which I used to own).
I couldn't see a Steinberg headless in any other color than black.
Yamaha BBN-series or Nathan East in Black. This which brings up a sore spot- I HATE the color of my Yammy (that stupid satin redish stain), but I'm afraid to refinish it with a "real" and change the tone after 20+ years of playing it!
A Wal or MM can be any bloody color they want!
