Your post reminded me of this Burst. It is one of the coolest burst colors I have ever seen. I still don't think I would want it though. It looks like the bass is appearing out of a fog to me.

Go ahead and shoot me, but I say sunburst with tort. Classic - it predates electric instruments. Also, it's a piece of wood. Why would you not want to let the grain show through???

I lost my Precisions in the fire. I'd always wanted one of those GC FSR Honeyburst. Such a nice bass.
I think I'll be looking for one of those once I've rebuilt. Hard to come by these days.

I'm very impressed with these Honeyburst FSR's. OutSTANDing neck on these babies. I did put a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 pickup in mine. They're my favorite P-Bass pickup replacement. And to my eyes, the gold anodized guard looks like it was made for this bass. I also have the original white (or parchment?) and a brown tort. I've seen a lot of guys put a black one on. They're all okay, but the gold anodized is by far my favorite (on THIS bass). Hope you find one!

It looks great on almost any bass, & it absolutely refuses to blend into the background.

I like Candy Apple Red and appreciate it when people play instruments of this color, but at the same time, as someone who has had an occasion to teach youngsters the ins and outs of Rock n Roll, there seems to be an inordinately large number of instruments for beginners finished in this color and I can't help associate with cheapo first guitars...

No slight intended whatsoever to those who own and play fully pro bright red instruments...

Personally, I prefer wood grains that are transparently varnished....
I like shocking colors too - bright orange, seafoam green, electric blue!

Edit: Best color ever? Apparently not. Pretty sure this limited Winter 2004 NAMM run ended up fizzling out via Guitar Center and that was that. But I love it.
