Spalted. Or flamed maple. With two Bartolini’s and a Sadowsky preamp. Maybe six strings.

This thread didn’t make any sense to me until page 3.
Punk is about the condition of the bass (disreputable), the stickers and the sheer obnoxiousness of the player, not the #$*! color.

I don't know about best color, but I like my '78 P with maple neck, broken black pick guard, dented ashtray bridge cover, Krylon green paint and an empty hand chiseled hole for a J bridge pickup.

Or natural wood. If it was good enough for Amebix in 1983 it's good enough for me, Westones have heavy brass fittings, it's like an old wooden ship. I'd feel sorry for anyone who tried to attack it, it would hurt them. The sound alone is like a bludgeon.

I just don't get it sometimes. As old guard, these sorts of questions seem so vapid to me. I blame the "is this punk" mentality on the mass marketing of pseudo-punk brought to you by mall clothing chains and radio/top 40 "punk".
If it properly conveys your angst and utter disgust with society....any color will do!
