Best Combo Rig

I have a Thunderfunk 750 amp and a Bergantino 4X12 cab. I'm looking for a combo rig for small gigs to play with a jazz trio. I don't want to haul the big rig or peel enamel off teeth, so what would you recommend for a great sounding combo?

Thanks.

I do not want to take you far off topic but there are allot more choices if you look at some of the light weight neo cabs and a micro head. You could even consider a neo 12" loaded cabinet and pair it with your Thunderfunk, a Berg AE112 isn't a bad start...

Good advice, petertpalmieri. I'm also thinking of pairing my T-funk 750 with the Berg AE210 since I already have a Berg 4X12. That would a tweeter to my mix if I ever wanted to stack the Bergs.

That's a good choice as well. I gave up on combos a few years ago the choices are just so limited. Since you know you love the Tfunk tone it will be a much easier cabinet evaluation process. You could always look to pair that cab with a Markbass head which sounds great LMIII or F1 and can serve as a backup to the T Funk as well...

I play my BN6 through a 50 lbs, 2x12 combo made by Link Removed. 2100 bucks, and worth every penny. They also make smaller combo's: 2x10, 1x10 and 1x12. Tecamp stuff is VERY high quality... and they really sound great. (this is coming from a Bergantino addict ;))

The us distributor is Osiamo, or contact Glenn at Austin Bass traders!

if your just gathering combo info, there is a neo cobo list here on TB somewhere.

Personally I use the Mesa Walkabout 12 combo for jazz gigs (actually most of my gigs) and love the tone and the format.

The Genz and Markbass combo rigs are also worth a listen. Their accolytes will be along soon I'm sure

what you go with ultimately will depend on what sound you are seeking and what your wallet will bear.

good luck.

Mesa Walkabout 12. Big fat creamy tone. Nice one handed carry.
Head pops out in under 30 sec for use with bigger cabs.
Combo will support a variety of extension cabs as well.

The Hartke Kickbacks are great combos. The have been out for quite a long time and the price reflects that.

The Walkabout is definitely a nice amp. Good build quality and the tone is fat (from the one I checked out). Pricey though so that could alter your decision.

The TecAmp Puma 212 combo with 500 Watts, 21,5 kg finally has replaced my full stack.
My gitarrists are complaining as I virtually have to move nothing and the sound is awesome und has incredible power and lows.
Low B is delivered with depth, clearness and grace without any boomy rumble.
Best combo I ever played with.

Never ever will move cabs and heads again:-)
