There's a lot of different kinds of delay. Personally I'd recommend you start with something like the line 6 m5 or tc flashback that has a lot of different types of delays. Then once you figure out the types of delay you like you may or may not want to buy a delay specifically for that sound. For example if you liked the analog delay on the flashback then check out the mxr carbon copy. If you want digital delay maybe a boss dd-3 but if you're also a fan of modulated delay (I am) the dd-3 doesn't do it. What the dd-3 does do that's pretty cool is the glitch trick. Some people like tap tempo. I suck at using tap tempo switches so I'm more into delays with presets which is why I'm gonna order the flashback x4 soon.hey guys, in your experience what is the best delay pedal?
Thanks

I have the regular but I am half considering going with the Bright. I love the regular one but I think it may work out better for bass to go with the Bright. But then again, every time I think I can use delay on bass, I listen to recordings and think I'm trying to shoehorn it in where it doesn't belong, so I'll probably leave it for my guitar work, and the regular works fine for guitar. Best analog delay ever made if you ask me. Love the way the repeats degrade!MXR Carbon Copy Bright.

OP: Budget? Needs?
If you just want a decent inexpensive delay, the Boss DD-3 would be fine. Prefer analog? MXR Carbon Copy.
If you want extensive control the Strymon TimeLine or Eventide TimeFactor are pretty awesome.
I see what you did there.
