Kyle Brock playing bass for Eric Johnson on his first Austin City Limits appearance always does it for me.
Speaking of Harry Nilsson, I really like the bass tone on "Jump into the Fire" but I'm not sure who played bass on it. Also I think Will Lee has a killer bass tone but I guess technically it's not Fender since he plays a Sadowsky.
That bass tone and solo in his first solo album(I think. .it was in the 80s) on the tune "ZAP". I think the album was called tones. I was listening to alot of prog rock back then like eric, satch, tony mcalpine, vinnie moore, yngvie(sp ?) and others.
Duff mccagens japanese fender jazz bass special tone on appetite for destruction. ..always thought that sat out in the mix and was easy identifiable. ..great rock tone.
