Oh.....Ok I see where the confusion is.

Being a lefty, I clicked on the left handed series reissues. Apparently they're billed as "reissues" but they're different from both the ones you mentioned, and the beginner's versions.

hmmm...go figure.

The RB5, and a Jazz relic (really nice) are the only ones I've been impressed with. I own a Deluxe Precision 5, but I'm not too fond of it, it's kind of a spare at the moment.

I love my American Deluxe. I like the Noiseless pickups and the fact that I can work with the tone a lot. I have a '97 model with the older pickups, which are apparently punchier and have more midrange. Sounds good to me!

Oh yeah I got a 98 MIA DLX with the John Suhr preamp and 1/4 slugs (last year made). Cuts like a ginzu!

Although the FMTs have caught my eye, its just one of the many Deluxes, and I don't like some of em, I liked a lot of the artist series, I've played the RB5 a bit and love it, I own a Jaco, its beautiful! I've played the MM a bit too its also beautiful! The Victor Bailey sounds gorgeous and looks gorgeous (never played it, just when I went to see him, I wish I had the balls to ask him if I could play it now though ) Stu Hamm sounds pretty darn good too (never played it, just heard it live at a gig), and the Geddy Lee is darn impressive too!

when i first played it (i was 16 years old, now im 23) a great local player came to me and asked
: "wow man great sound ! are you sure this is a fender ? ...it sounds active but it has warm low end and lots of growl..."
back then my 4 string jazz bass (which is called drew after drew barrymore) did most of the job in the sound ,
i has more marcus miller sound in it then the MM signture bass .

I've got a '62 MIA Jazz RI, '75 MIJ Jazz RI, MIA Jazz Deluxe 4, Marcus Miller 4 and a MIM Jazz Deluxe V.

They are all great basses, but I'm partial to the Deluxe series.

Lately I've been thinking of unloading the Reissues I have and the Marcus Miller and getting an RB5. I've been reading a ton of great stuff about this bass. Just wish I could find one here in Atlanta.

to me my MIM jazz (with barts a badass II and a hipshot detuner) is all i really need.

the neck is great. if i really wanted lower action, i can always shim the neck (the badass is a little to tall and i already have the saddles all the way down).

playing an american and/or artist jazz won't get me anymore work that i already have.

tonewise - everyone that i work with really likes my tone (i am blessed with fat fingers)

would i buy an expensive fender? absolutly, if i was wealthy, but i'm not.

I own a Fender Deluxe P, but I would have to say the Victor Bailey is the most comfortable and versital sounding jazz, funk, and thump bass fender produces.
