Best Flatwound Strings?

I happen to really like the Fender 9050 Flats.... I was a long time Chromes player realy diggin the Fenders though..
For me the best ones if you are looking for brightness and definition of your attack ate the Sadowsky. Chatting with rep from La Bella strings at Bass Player Live, I found out that they manufactured them for Sadowsky.
I recently strung my fender ADPV with daddario half rounds
well its not pure flatwounds, it does feels smooth just like flats, but had a sustain, flexibility and brightness of round wound, I love it!

My only Experience is with DR Flats... I play a mahogany 1981 G&L 2000e, I use the Neck pickup only, and I killed the treble in my bass, and in the amp. I am looking for no punch, no treble or mid ranch, only BASS, DARK, WARM, Muddy ... I was getting a beautiful low frequency bass sound from it when I was tuning to BEAD, but I started to seriously studding James Jamerson, DB, and sight reading... so I got a new set of DR Flats but EADG... its good, but I can not get the same as BEAD sound, obviously I am not talking about the low B. New Set of strings feel different at the old DR set. Did they change their formula?
I tried dampening the sound with foam, and it good for Funky fast lines but not for slow sounds

all a matter of preference, I really like d'ad chromes, but that is mostly because i don't have the money to try lots of strings and they have always worked for me.

To me, the Fenders are more even in tone across the range, less "honky" if you will.

They are made of mahogany also and the pickup looks like in the same place as G&L. EDIT: I just saw another one the pickup is way up next to the neck that should give it a very dark sound. but they are $.$$$,00 too much investment for just to get a particular sound.
May be a should dress my flats with butler or boil them.

No butter. Your strings will smell bad. All you need to do is turn the bass up on your amp, cut the treble, use the neck pickup on your G&L and use La Bella flatwound strings with some foam or a kitchen sponge under the strings just in front of the bridge.

I guess a .049 set would have more tension possible be a little brighter than a 0.045?
They will all be good except for maybe the lightest set FX, but I would say the thicker the better for what you want. Tension by itself won't make a string sound brighter.
Actually, it does. Don't believe it? Downtune your bass by a third, listen to the changes in timbre and tone.
Sure, but using that logic you're saying an FM set of deep talkin flats would sound brighter than an FX set?
Having owned FX, FL, FS, and M set, I will say unequivocally and without reservation that yes, it does.
