I'm going to say the SRA300. But, I never got to play an SR1000EFM, which, aesthetically, was my favorite bass ever.

But yeah, the SRA300 plays well and sounds good. Best Ibby I've played. I hate the SR500s and 700s.

Guy I know has an Ibby lawsuit Les Paul Triumph bass. Don't see many of those! Looks and sounds great.

I played a fest back in June, and one guy had THEE most beautiful (looking and sounding) Lawsuit Ibby...

It was a sunburst P/J with a jazz body and black pick guard with a maple neck with black binding and block inlays... i swooned.

Ergodynes were build very well, from the comfortable body style to the jack placement. They're not made anymore, but they actually are very good basses. If I had the money, I'd pick up a used Ergodyne.

What about BTBs and Ergodynes? I've been seeing some on CL for short money lately.

I have never heard a kind word for the Ergodyne.

BTBs look ridiculous. In a world of ridiculous-looking basses, that body shape holds its own.

Everyone seems to love ATKs, but they are very different basses from the usual Ibanez, which may be why people like them.

I've owned a few Ibbys. I've kept my ATK throughout, so my pick would be an ATK.

However, right now i'm GASing rediculously hard for a 70's Ibanez Lawsuit Jazz bass. Their Fender knock-offs sound amazing:

The lawsuit ibanezes are great... I own a jazz, precision and 4001 and sold the ripper to a good friend... I can't recomend these enough, and I've owned the real thing and have stuck with the lawsuits...

If you can find an old roadster as well they are great basses. I put bartolinis in a 5 string mij roadstar and it was great... I've played BTBs and they are alright, just not for me....

I actully just upgraded from my GSR200fm I like the bass was easy to play, but I wanted more. I just bought an SR500. WOW!! I love that bass. It is lighter and easier to play than the GSR. The sound is amazing it has a growling low end and the high and mids can cut through anything. The bass is very versital with all the controls it has I can get any sound I want. It was well worth the money. There may be better basses out there but if you but this you will not be unhappy.

just got my brand new sr505 this thing purrss with the bart dual pick and 3 band eq it gives me my lows i need. and it looks hella sweet. the abalone inlay and the dark mahogany.

What are the main knocks on the Ergodyne's(EDx's) and the BTB's? I've had my eye on Ibanez's stuff and narrowed down my interest to these 2.

The SR series are my fave Ibanez basses.

The ATK series basses are so good it is ridiculous. I plan on getting one at some point and I'm positive it will be much more than just a backup for my US made G&L. The SR 50x's are also a very good value. The Prestige series Soundgears are very good instruments, at a price point of many other good instruments, so it comes down to personal preference.

I understand that there's no such thing as a 'best' bass in any category, but what Ibanez bass would you recommend? I want to upgrade from my GSR200, but I'm a little lost. There are so many models, and I really don't know where to start.

Buy a higher end BTB. I've had my BTB-505 for 10 years and it's still an awesome bass. I literally play it everyday. It's extremely versatile and built exceptionally well. BTB all the way! Check out the BTB club on here to see various models.

My only qualm with the Luthite-body Ergodynes is the extra weight. By size/volume, the body on my EDB605 is smaller than any of my Fender Jazz basses, but due to the synthetic Luthite material, the EDB605 is definitely the heaviest bass I own. Not really a problem for me, but I’d probably think twice before choosing it as my sole instrument for a long gig. My guess is that the newer Ergodynes got a bit lighter when they switched the bodies over to ash, basswood and maple.

Other than that, my Ergodyne experience has been totally positive.

by far, the best Ibby I've played (and still own) is the ATK750. Extremely versatile, SUPER low action and excellent build quality!

find an atk750. You can usually find them used for $350 (can't buy them new) and they rock. They are the same as the ATK300 but a nicer top with an extra pickup. For the price it's really and unbelievable value
