As a kid, I promised to myself that I would learn "The Lick"; the bass line. When I nailed it, it was magic. Some meany others worth mentioning though, Iron Butterfly for ever, man!

I can't choose a "best" IM song since they have released so many terrific tunes, but I have a very personal opinion: Iron Maiden music has several components that make it very distinctive, and IMO the song that best summarizes/condenses them is "Hallowed Be Thy Name".

Running Free is the first Maiden song to get its hooks in me and will always have a special place in my heart. As far as a favorite though I have to go with The Trooper.
