Every time I watch it, it seems like I find a new "favourite" moment that I hadn't really latched onto in previous viewings. It's such a brilliant movie it's easy to forget about the little gems littered throughout.
One of my favourite parts is where David is talking about an act that came on before them and says something to the effect of "he was so bad they were still booing him when WE came on stage".

We named our band from this quote. The Yonge Originals!Then we had a group called "The Originals", but we found out there was a band on the East side called " The Originals", so we called ourselves "The New Originals". Then they broke up, and we thought about going back to just " The Originals", but we decided on "The Thamesmen".

Absolutely great movie. Soon after I saw it, my girlfriend at the time, who was a college DJ, called me and surprised me with tickets to a very exclusive show at CBGB's. So I hightailed it into NY without really knowing what was up and headed down to the Bowery to find that I was going to see Spinal Tap! I arrived just in time to see Christopher Guest get out of a cab (sans wig) and head into the club. They played great and were really funny.
Interestingly, since the movie has come out "Gimme Some Money" (their Yardbirds-like song) has since seen a lot of non-parody airplay. I believe I also heard it as a jingle backdrop on television once too.

I never really thought about that song, beyond the surface level parody.
Then one time, at a friends house during the Christmas holidays, my friends dad pulls out a guitar, and starts performing it.
I almost choked on my eggnog.
I'd never noticed how filthy the lyrics are, and hearing those words innocently delivered by my friends unwitting dad, just floored me.
I couldn't explain it to them, and they still haven't really listened phonetically - just taken the words at face value.
The scene of them wandering around trying to find the stage. No dialog, but we’ve all been there.
Not necessarily a Quote,but a scene that cracked me up: Nigel is shown live playing his guitar solo, kicks a "live" guitar ontage( itson a stand), continues to solo, picks up a violin,bows it across his guitar with a horrible screech! stops, pauses to "tune" the violin! LOL, Hilarious!
I remember going to this movie on opening day after reading a review in the LA Times, I'd convinced band members to attend. we had a blast! i recall, the audience didnt get it, & we were the only ones laughing at their hijinx. people were looking at us like we were high. scenes like the the 1 above & getting lost in the basement. it added to the ridculousness of this movie. I was shocked that some people thought this was actually a serious documentary!
