Best low B string in the Biz?

I can only go on personal experience and so far my Lakland is the best B string I have ever played.

Hands-down...Roscoe, Warrior, MTD USA, Warwick, and Yamaha's BB2025X...all total monsters. +1 for Ken Smith, also.

I'm looking at buying a new 5 string for recording and playing a few contemporary jazz funk gigs. Primarily looking for rich, deep and punchy low end. Piano like sustain. I have a couple 5ers with great low B's. (Roscoe SKB and Lakland 5594) but want something a bit deeper. From what I have heard the Ken Smiths low B is pretty killer with the ebony FB, especially for a 34" scale.

Any thoughts?

I'll make this Short and Brief. Try a Fender 5 str. I have a 36"/ 24 fret Neck on my Jazz Body. With Hot Stax Pick-Ups. Sey.Dunc. they are the hottest Passives on the Market. Awesome Low End. GHS Boomer Strs. Mediums. Wow!

A few years since my last post in this thread-
This is what I’ve learned:
On my USA fenders, they have the string thru body option; IME, the best way to kill a B string is to bend it. And it’s impossible to top load a regular B on the fender bridge.
But I found a tapered B top loaded was night and day. I think a top loaded, straight pull installation of strings is better.
A lot of people are talking about playing above the 12fret on the B string. It’s bloody uncomfortable to wrap your hand around the neck and play the B that high up; the practical limit seems to be around the 6th fret.
The other factor is amplification:
You need a great amp and cab to produce a great B string. My fenders are probably average to decent basses, but when they are pumping through a great system, I think it can’t get better-at low volume at home, it sounds different.
I’ve had well constructed basses that had terrible B strings no matter what.
