Mine is actually from Flea, something that I heard him say in an interview when I was young.

Play it like you mean it.
    And have fun.
  9. If you play when you're drunk or stoned, you think you sound great, but the audience won't.

Don't step on the drummer. Give him space and find the groove he gives you.

"Learn the whole song, not just the bass parts." said to me during a chance meeting with the man himself, Jaco Pastorius, after a set at the old Lone Star Roadhouse in New York City. From the same conversation, "Don't try to play like me or anyone else. Look in the mirror and play like that guy."

I was told that when I perform I should play knowing that there will people in the audience who will hear the music for the first time and there will be those who will hear it for the last time.
  17. Bill Clark, my high school Jazz Band instructor said to stay away from pointy headstocks and watch out for the guitarist/vocalist alliance.

oh and he said to listen to everything going on as much as your can cuz only the bass guitarist has that ability.

Gospel, Jazz, Rock, Blues, Slow, Zouk, african music and more...

I am a newcomer in the forum. Thank you very much for the book.
Please, as a self-taught person I have succeeded to play many rythms (gospel, jazz, blues, rock, zouk, rap, african music, etc.).
But I need to be evaluated in other to fill my gaps.

These are some bass chords I am playing :

I also need an online certification.

Would you give me some advices?
