best octave pedal for bass???

What's your guys opinion the best octave pedal? I'd really like to get that effect Justin chancellor gets in the intro and various parts of vicarious but I don't want to buy a whammy. Yes, I know, some octave pedals are just as expensive maybe more so than a whammy. But I want something I will utilize more than a whammy after I buy it and I've played with a whammy before and just wasn't diggin too much. So...

Think I'd look at the Pog. Like I said, I have the BOD and it is okay, but tracking is not that great past the low A and there is no octave up. I haven't tried the boss pedal or the Micro Pog, but the Pog gets a lot of love around here.

I have the MXR bass octave deluxe. Not perfect, but it is usable. It's tracking below open A is a bit sketchy (strangely 5th fret E, tracks fine) and it warbles occasionally when I go up the neck.
The variable mid boost is a pretty slick deal, as are the two voicing controls.
I paid $90.00 for a lightly used floor model.

there's hardly any bad ones. i've probably used a dozen and liked them all. nothing wrong with the boss OC-2, nice fat sounding octave.

i use the red digitech (guitar..??) whammy for my octaves, works great. also having the expression pedal to go to +1 octave is a blast, too.

The MXR BOD can track well on the low E if you set it : Growl 10 Dry 1 Girth 7 o'clock
This is a agressive analog octaver, so if you don't need to play lower than Ab on the E string, you can set it with more Growl & Girth and have a interesting sound with less dry signal. However, it's a analog, so you better have a great technic. Sloppy players it's not the one you need...

Some people feel very strongly about the difference between analog and digital octavers with reference to tone. If you're willing to go digital the Line 6 is an awesome octaver. I'm talking about the M5/M9/M13. Great tracking and a wide variety of tone.

The M series Octaver is a digital model of an analog octave pedal. It may be the best of both worlds for monophonic sub octave. My favorite analog octave pedal so far is the BMS. It tracks very well, had great tone, goes up and down. The Micro POG is a fantastic performer but the lower octave tone is a little bland and the upper is kind of artificial.

Best pedal I've used for an octaver was a whammy IV. It doesn't do all the harmonies the bass whammy did but it is lot more solid of a pedal. I used it a lot back when I played 5 string. In my opinion the ability to bend the pitch with the rocker was what made it fun aside from that unless you plan on playing fast solo type stuff with an octave pedal I would just physically play the octaves without a pedal at all. my experimenting with the whammy was part of why I ended up playing a 7 string.
