I’ve been using the mxr bass octave deluxe for a while. I like that I can get a few tones I like out of it where most Octave pedals to me there’s really only one or maybe two really usable settings. But have been thinking about getting an hx stomp because of its updated pitch shifting. In the most recent update they added all the “poly pitch” stuff. This is essentially an updated whammy dt. I have used the newer bass whammy and whammy 4, and drop in the past and liked certain things about them. Interesting story is line 6 actually hired the guys who were let go from digitech who actually made the last gen of whammy’s. So essentially the line 6 “poly” stuff now has what could have been the whammy 6. And it’s seems pretty flexable. Because it does everything the digitech drop can do also including the momentary switching option as well, along with a poly capo, which was a pedal that was rumored to be in the works when that crew was at digitech but never came to be as a stand alone and the only thing that really does a similar thing is the whammy dt which most people avoided because it was super huge. What really peaks my interest though is that unlike the whammy family of pedals with the hx stuff you can actually tweak the sound by adding for example an eq block that is also activated by the same footswitch. So unlike the whammy family of pedals you potentially have a lot more flexibility than just picking the interval it’s shifting.Ugh. Too many to choose from.
Going to use for a number of Sonic goals. Flexibility is probably top feature.
Thoughts on which is best for the pedal board?
