13MWZ Wranglers, with the copper rivets and the leather WRANGLER patch on the back pocket. Buy 'em an inch or so too long so they'll stack up over your Tony Lamas, have them double-starched, and please, if you're NOT a rodeo rider, DON'T get some big belt buckle. Available in many colors.

Surely the pants must match the occasion? For me, jeans are OK for most gigs. Dress pants for corporate gigs or private parties (weddings, etc.). Shorts are OK for summer outdoor shows. Striped circus pants if you get a job in a circus. Assless pants for... well, didn't someone post a few months ago about getting a gig in a strip club?

Seriously, since gigging usually involves doing your own roadie work, I would go to the work-clothes section of the Wal-Mart and get a pair of Dickies Fit Flex. Cheap, can do stage antics without ripping, etc.
Great thread idea! The musicianship may be top tier, but the fashion aspect is often definitely lacking here on the board or in the venues 
At first I was disappointed I couldn't make multiple choices (cuz I look damn fine in yoga pants as well as a skirt), but ultimately I voted for leather/leather like if I could only have one pair ... they would probably last the longest and can easily be fashioned into assless chaps if it gets too hot out
