Unless you can't control your pick, lose the pickguard. Lose the black. God made wood beautiful for a reason. I doubt that reason was to cover it up with either paint or plastic.

This is true for most American made Jazzes. If you got a mexican like mine the pickguard hides the pickup/control cavity route

White pearloid with the chrome bridge cover.

I don't need another bass, nor do I expect I'll buy a 4 string Fender jazz while I prefer natural wood 5's, but someday, I would like to get the sister for this bad boy (I changed the pickguard from black aluminum to white pearloid). If for nothing else, how cool they will look together.

I loved the look. I went to the hobby shop and bought a little tiny jar of black paint and touched up the screw holes, and it looks wonderful.

I got the idea from seeing his. The abalone-topped knobs are nice, too.
