Personally, I'm surprised that <insert band name here> didn't get more votes.
I would contend that is because most who consider lists and 'best's as folly don't participate in things like polls. I never looked at the results nor do they interest me. Heck I don't even know what my 'best's are from one day to the next. At the end of the day at most they are one person's opinions. Sometimes interesting to see who likes what.

There is much dreck from some of the Rock and Musician groups on my feed FB, like Society Of Rock, with 'bests' and lists that just turn out to be some writer half my age's personal interests and/or limited exposure, and I've yet to see a list I agree with. Well, I do kinda sometimes agree with parts of some of Rick Beato's stuff, even where I don't agree he does have some great vids.

I do however really like lists from artists, their favourites or their most influential players or albums or songs, etc. There was a good one from Nick Beggs not too long ago. Beggs was an influence for me in the early 80s when I learned much of his stuff with Kajagogo, he was among the best New Wave slap players. Plus he's got a great voice.

Speaking of which, especially in ELP, I think Lake is a bit of an unsung hero on bass, some of those parts, though buried under Emerson's keys, are very challenging to play and well written. I came across this a year or so ago when I was trying to learn Tarkus,
G
ood player, and this only scratches the surface of Lake's bass work in this.

Another for instance was reading how both Mark King and Jeff Berlin were heavily influenced by Jack Bruce, I may have seen where Berlin said Bruce was his favorite bass player, I could be wrong.

Whatever we do here, let's not get into a Berlin side track, given where that has led in other threads......

Kraan was another I had heard in the 70s from Allison Steele, I seem to remember something about "Let It Out".

She played a lot cool and sometimes wacky stuff, like this (not Prog), clearly a sign of the times

When I was young, Allison Steele and the other DJs at WNEW turned me on to a lot of great stuff.

Hey all,

I am out of here for a little bit, but I got news today that my friend Mike is starting up his Progscape Radio show again, so before I head off I figured some of you might want to check it out.

Broadcast: ProgScape Radio | Pushing The Boundaries Of Progressive Rock...and then progressing beyond them.

Podcasts: ‎ProgScape Radio on Apple Podcasts

I believe he used to do a weekly show, then he stopped for a while, but now he's back on Facebook today with what he says will be a monthly broadcast. He's got a huge collection of obscure (and not so obscure) prog that he shares.

Enjoy!
