Best replacement speaker for older 15" Markbass combo amp?

Wondering if anyone has a recommendation to replace a 2007 15" B&C speaker inside a Markbass 151 combo amp. I had the head repaired a few years ago and now the vice coil has given up the ghost. I'm looking at Eminence versus B&C 8 ohm, 400 watt models that fit the ~3 cubic foot vented cabinet space. Thanks in advance.

I don't like MarkBass sound, but as an Italian I cannot stop to phraise their work ethic. MarkBass has an excellent service over here in Italy, I've heard of people "servicing" their 20+ years old gear, I bet they can get supplies in the US via official retailers.

If you don't like the MarkBass sound, why don't you sell your combo and buy something that you actually like???

Your combo's amp is still going to be MarkBass, and is responsible for a good portion of that "MarkBass sound".

I think you are mistaking someone else's comment for mine. I love my combo amp's sound, which is why I am bothering to replace the speaker.

An update for anyone interested or who faces a similar Markbass repair dilemma: It appears that Markbass likes to be cryptic with the specs of their gear. They offer a replacement speaker for ~ $300 including shipping, but all their rep at VST can tell me is that it's an 8 ohm speaker: not even wattage details much less what it's made of or the frequency information or where it's made. So when my MB head dies, the speaker will be a big unknown. I find this to be enough of a turn off to be looking elsewhere, and in all likelihood I'll be buying an Emminence or Beyma speaker that meets the specs of my cabinet.

Sorry, I thought post #4 was yours.

Manufacturers don't generally provide specs on their proprietary parts.

FWIW, it's a 400 RMS watt neo driver and cabinet specs are on the markbass website. The MarkBass replacement will best meet the specs of your cabinet if you want to retain the tone of the combo. I'd do that.

I can't speak to the WD800 specifically but I can speak too overall build quality of Mesa Subway amps. I have the D350, the smallest Subway head and it's wonderfully built and sounds great! I'm sure the WD800 will be all that and more. Good luck with your new amp.
