Best Reverb pedal for bass?

Hi guys, I'm new here, and I'm looking for a reverb pedal for my bass. By searching in the forums I can tell that the opinion is really divided for the best reverb out there. So bottomline, what reverb would you consider best for bass?

The ones that I'm considering right now are:
Boss RV-3 and 5
EHX Holy Grail and Holy Grail Plus
Malekko Chicklet

Any other recommendations would be very appreciated. Thanks

I'd recommend you take a look at the Hardwire Reverb pedal.

I played with it at a SamAsh in the city and it's been at the top of my reverb wishlist ever since.

Depending on your budget, you might want to look into these as well:

- Eventide Space
- Strymon Blue Sky Reverberator
- Neunaber Technology WET Reverb

Go Youtube 'em. Despite the lack of "bass" examples, reverbs usually can handle a wide frequency range...like delays.

I use a DigiTech DigiVerb to produce whalesounds and such. Doesn't see too much use while in song except for some occassional need for weird sounds but I think it has ample features for my purpose.

My current favorite is the Strymon BlueSky.

I'd also suggest looking into the Neunaber WET reverbas mr. Baudin recommends.

Instead of the Holy Grail pedals, I'd be looking at the EHX Cathedral reverb instead.

I've owned a HardWire RV-7 in the past. It's a pretty nice pedal, but I wanted more tonal control. Sold it and tried an EBS DynaVerb (current edition), which while having a tone knob was great, it still wasn't enough. The Strymon is exactly what I needed. It has three reverb types, three settings for the reverbs, and full independent control over the highs and lows of the reverberated signal. Not to mention that it is essentially two pedals in one with the favorite switch (set the favorite switch to one setting, set the pedal to a different setting. Now you have two reverb settings ready to go when you want them.).

What are you looking for in a reverb unit? Are you trying to cop some in-amp unit style reverb tones, are you more after room-type ambiance? How much use will you get out of a reverb unit? "Best" is subjective, especially with no direction as to what you are looking for.

I'm looking for the Reverb to be essential in my sound, something that is on most of the time and pretty much makes my whole sound. That's if there is such a thing.

should check out the Markbass Reverbero, I've seen them sold new for around 160 on ebay. Since most bass players rarely use Reverb effect.

I recommend checking out the EBS Dynaverb. I got one recently and love it. I keep a Digitech Digiverb as a back up and actually have an old Radio Shack spring reverb that sounds great (but only use it for recording).

I'd like to check out the Boss FRV-1 on bass, but haven't gotten there yet.

I don't use much Reverb on bass... but i LOVE it on guitar.

I have a Boss RV-5, Danelectro Spring King, and the incorporated reverb in the Holy Grail.


The Holy Grail is kinda 'meh' with bass... but the Boss and Dano' sound pretty damn good. I especially like the Dano'!!

I highly recommend the EBS DynaVerb. The best, most natural reverb I've found in a pedal. I do suggest getting the power supply for it, or using a lithium 9V battery. It eats alkalines like crazy, as most digital pedals tend to do.

The TC electronic one looks interesting to me as you can make the effect duck out when playing so as to prevent things getting muddy, which could be particularly handy on a bass. Or you can do the reverse and have the effect come in as you play which could be interesting.

I just ordered the Bluesky. Most I've ever dropped on a single pedal, but I love me some reverb. I'm thinking it might kick the Tech 21 RVB off my board-They seem to have a similar setup, but the Bluesky has the pre-delay, fav setting & "shimmer" setting plus stereo ins & outs.

I have nothing but love for my Hardwire RV-7. The Livliness control has proven to be all the EQ'ing I could need and there are many versatile settings that sound fantastic to my ears. I tried a few others in my search, and nothing else compared from a value/tone perspective- I found the EBS to be too subtle for my purposes, pesonally (as I also the reverb with digital drums and acoustic guitar, where I like it pretty wet).

+1 on the EBS Dynaverb. I don't see how it could be improved on as a bass reverb pedal. I took mine off my pedal board because I don't use reverb much, and needed a phaser. I was going to keep it for the occasional guitar use, but if you'd like to make an offer, I've got one.
