Best Rig You've EVER played through

I am getting closer and closer to having my dream rig.

I love solid-state amps... especially my recently aquired GK 1001RB-II.
But, I put a tube compressor and tube equalizer in the effects loop. A TL Audio 5051 Mono Valve Processor, to color my sound a bit.
Wonderful combo: solidstate amp + tube processor(s).

Only thing I want to change now is 2 Hartke 4.5XL cabs instead of the 410XL cab I have now.

I've played on a Trace V-type. But I had only been playing a couple of years, so I have no idea if I liked it or not.

Holy balls, you're running the 1001 through a 410xl? Blown speakers could very well be in your future

Fror a more SS sound I was also EXTREEEEMELY impressed with a Genz 1200 thru Genz quad. I could hear the molecules vibrating in my D'addarios it was so damn accurate.

I used to have two old square back SVT 8x10 cabs. In addition to those, I had a matching sized cab with two JBL 15" drivers in it. I'd lay the 2x15 on its side, then stack the two SVTs on their sides atop that. Power was a Seymour Duncan head of come ilk. I believe it was bridged into the 2x15, and a line out was taken to feel a biggish power amp (for the time.... CS1200), which fed the two 8x10 cabs. This was during my "rockstar" phase.... Then, when I had to move the rig myself, oddly a 2x10 seemed plenty loud. Today, though I have a few VERY cool rigs, my gigging amp is the Carvin BRX212 combo

I played this rig at very loud volumes, no indication whatsoever that the speakers can't handel it.

Were you serious? Is there something I should whatch out for?

I send a lot of "clean" power through the cab. (no overdrive or dirt or anything)

I admit, I actually wish I had a cab with more power handling for my purposes. But thos alu cones sound so good.

An American fender vintage 62 reissue Jazz bass, Boss tuner that everyone haves... T-Rex Moller (Overdrive/Distortion) Old original Hot Tubs (Overdrive/Distortion)

Into an Orange AD200B, OBC 4x10, OBC 1x15.

I would love both of these cabs again to go on the other side of the drums... fill the stage sound out a bit more. That would be my dream rig...

Wow, look how many people say SVT's...that's just crazy so many people name SVT's.

69 SVT with 6146B's/73 810 with CTS's. That or my B-15N stack.

There's a reason for that and it ain't because SVTs are trendy or some other inane nonsense.

For rock and roll, if you can't dial in a good tone with an SVT/810 rig, the problem's not with the amp.

Actually, that statement could be applied to any pro-level rig.



...And yes, I do own an old SVT.

Aside from my current SVT/NV610 rig, probably the best thing I've ever plugged into was a Neve 1073 strip and a Summit tube compressor with a rack of Crown MA2400s driving a pair of Meyer 650 subs and a pair of MSL-2s. It was divine.

Glockenklang Soul. First note out of the 210 combo my heart did handsprings and to date nothing has got close to that mountaintop experience.

I typically borrow a Glockenklang combo for demonstrating Barker Basses at NAMM.

I now own the Soul head, and it doesn't seem to matter what cabinet I use, it just sounds rich and pure and present. It makes my ears happy while my heart smiles.

Only busted this out once for an outdoor gig with no dependable PA support. My Alembic Pre through a Crest 2000 driving an Accugrove Tri-210 on one side and a Tri-115 and Tri-112 on the other. I slaved this out to my Thunderfunk driving a Mesa Roadready 1-15 EV full-range and a Mesa Roadready 2-10 with Eden drivers on the guitarists side . Just to make sure he could hear me. ;-). This rig can move air!
