+1 on the opening line in The Door’s song Roadhouse Blues. And I’m not even a Doors fan. But when something so neatly sums up the whole Rock band gestalt, you gotta give credit where credit is due.

“Well, I woke up this morning, and I got myself a beer.”

Runner up is Bob Seger’s line from Turn the Page:

“Later in the evening as you lie awake in bed with the echoes from the amplifiers ringin' in your head, you smoke the day's last cigarette, remembering what she said.”

Anybody who’s been on the road back in the 70s can relate to that one. And probably has the hearing damage to prove it.

Man. Pink Floyd has the distinction of being the only band I know whose music really transports the listener to this dismal reality - one that you'd swear was some dark parallel universe version of Earth, which gets sadder when you realize how very real it all was... and still is in some ways/places.
