I'll add to the Thomann love... Excellent store with great service, if you're in europe.

It's actually quicker and cheaper for me to order something from them then to buy from any store in my country (Poland)...

that says alot about thomann!

You can't actually "buy" a new bass through Alembic.com. You can spec it out, but then you have to place an order through a dealer. The exception would be some of the basses shown in the Alembic Store. But even those basses are located at a dealer and can be purchased from the dealer directly.

There are several excellent dealers who carry Alembic, but you will need to make certain your credit card has some stamina ;)

Just curious....What is your price range and what are you looking for? The gap between guitarcenter.com and alembic.com is huge. Especially when you're talking price.

by far my favorite place... after that Ebay.. I don't buy new basses just like I don't buy new cars. I especially like the idea that someone has taken care of it and that it is not a lemon. Also like buying stuff that might already been modded. I got my Warwick Corvette fretless on talkbass and it came with Norstrand NJ4SE's and Audere 4 band preamp...SWEET!!!! Also got my number one on talkbass which is a MTD Grendel 4 string.

Bass Central is a great store, and very nice to deal with.
Co-owned by bass greats Beaver Felton and Dave LaRue, their selection and prices are outstanding. When I ordered my Spector, I ended up speaking & dealing directly with Beaver Felton, who was kind enough to spend time with me recounting some of his experiences. Very Cool...

Zzsounds and MF I've had no problems with. Samedaymusic also. If you check these sites you can find some great bargains. Me, ultimately I want a great bass, so I go for that over price, though price also matters obviously.

You may find though that when you go oh wow I got an Ibanez ATK for 150 dollars new, the "gear snobs" will go oh that's not a REAL bass, if you spent less than 2K all you have is a cheap piece of rubbhish that won't last you more than 1 gig tops. I say if you like the bass, well you are the one owning and playing it so who cares what the gear snobs think of it. If they simply MUST have a 100k Jaguar or a 500k Ferrari to get to the grocery store in, I guess so be it right?
