Fender Jazz bass really sticks out. I caught John Pattituci and he pulled out
a Jazz bass for slapping. Also Boston horns had a bass player that used a J bass
and his slapping was wicked.

For me, an Alembic epic. I'm able to get the most awesome action on that, plus it's got MONSTER tone and the double truss rods helps that low action.

I read the first 3 pages and saw at least one recommendation for almost every single bass manufacturer...maybe a better question to ask would be "what is a bass NOT good for slapping?" I'd bet the list would be much shorter, or it'd just start a huge flame war.

I agree its subjective. I'm not a slap player but can appreciate the style. For me, the sounds I like are those of a Precision and especially, an Aria SB-1000.
