Best small bass cab?

Looking for the very best (in your opinions) 1X10 or 1X12 cab. No budget issues. Thanks for weighing in.

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]if you can find one. David recently shuttered his company but his website is still up. Some of his dealers still have some things left, though they are typically "last one". I see there's one for $799 at Bass Central in Florida, and one for $824.93 at Bass Club Chicago. That 112 handles 450-watts rms, SPL=99db, frequency range is 32Hz to 14KHz, and Max SPL=129db

Eden EX-112 cab - very compact 112 cab because it uses a whizzer cone (cone within a cone) for the high-mids and highs instead of a separate tweeter horn. I actually have two of these and was so impressed with the sound of it the first time I gigged it that I immediately ordered another. Street Price is $269 and although there is about $600 difference in price between the D112XST and this cab, there's nowhere near that much difference in sound.

If budget was a consideration, I'd suggest the Eden EX-112.
Best sound though is the DNS-112 by DNA

Thanks! I checked out Phil Jones and I really wanted to like it but I didn’t. I got the C8 which I thought my would be plenty but it doesn’t even touch a 2x10. And it’s heavy! The 5’s just don’t cut it for the low I was looking for. Super well built stuff though!

Bergantino is hard to beat. If they’re good enough for Sadowsky they’re good enough for me. Haven’t played through one yet though. Looking to see what I can find out there. Skimpy used market it seems. Thanks again to all!
The Mesa Boogie Subway SW210 is worth a look. I have one below an Ampeg PF-50T with the new SGT-DI. Killer rig.

Aguilar DB112 nt. The "nt" means no tweeter. I bounced around different boutique-ish brands for a long time before lucking into a pair of DB112 nt cabs. I have zero lust to buy other cabinets nowadays. Although, I have purchased 2 other Aggie DB cabinets: DB210 in tweed to match my tweed Ashdown CTM-30, and a DB112 (w/ tweeter). I have yet to take either to a gig and still drag my battle scarred green nt cabs to every show.

Oh, by the way, 2 DB112 nt cabs is plenty for medium sized venues w/ no PA support. Even though I could run a line from my GB Streamliner 900 or mic a cab, I prefer the sound of my rig to reach the audience, not the sound of the lesser quality PA speakers.

Respectfully disagree. (Not about PJB gear being well built -- it certainly is.) My C8 cab has never left me wanting for low end or volume. Now granted, I play a 4 string bass, and perhaps my opinion might be different if I played a 5-string or more. But my C8 cranks out a low E as well as anything I've ever played through, and I grew up on 15s.

The Genzler Array 123 is one of the best single 12" FRFR cabs I've played. Comparable and less spendy (at least on my side of the pond) are the Vanderkley MNT which also offer high-power 4-ohm versions if that's your thing.
Vanderkley Bass Amplification:: For sale, light weight, compact, neodymium; Vanderkley, Cabinets, 112, 210, 212, 410:: cabs :: Aurora Bassdirect, UK, Midlands, EU - High power, great tone, hand made, quality USA

I think this amp is rated 800 watt RMS @ 4 ohms and 400 watt RMS @ 8 ohms
Most single driver cabs will be 8 ohms, so you're looking for a cab with a max power handling of 400 W minimum
The Barefaced Super Mini and Super Compact could work.

This right here.

I have both Super Mini and Super Compact.
With cloth grille, they are less than 10kg each, so a comfortable one hand carry.
One is easily enough to play rock music with a drummer in front of 150 people.
The Super Mini does the treble side better due to a tweeter, while the Super Compact does a little more bass due to the larger enclosure size. They couple very well, too.

I have a bunch of brands including Bergantino (my top choice), Markbass, and Aguilar, and I would personally go for either of these brands' 1x12" enclosures (and also Mesa/Boogie). But given your goal (simple stage monitor, as I understand) if you prefer a 1x10", you might like to check Trace Elliot.

I do not think it sees a lot of love here, but my experience with it has been quite positive. It is quite cheap, priced around $350 brand new, and light (16.2 lbs = 7.35 kb); and due to the form factor, it is very easy to carry. It is announced to handle 300w (RMS). I have driven it with my AI Clarus SL and Ampeg PF-350 and could not be happier with the outcome.

My 5-string basses all have high C's, though. So, I do not know how it would perform with a low B. Worth checking...

I have to agree. A C8 should smoke any traditional style cab with 10s, easily.

I have a friend that plays Dingwalls w/ 37" B strings through PJB cabinets.. the 100 pound plus monster cabs that have like 12 or 16 (or more) 5" drivers in them. Those cabs produce the deepest, loudest, and clearest low notes possible. He could crank the power to those cabinets and literally hurt people, and never lose definition. I know because I have felt the beating to my rib cage! If I wasn't into a more tube amp and vintage driver sound, I would say PJB makes the best cabs in the biz, hands down. But, they're not my thing.
