Best squier bass

I've always heard Jazz basses were great for slap, and although I'm not big on it myself, I've learned it and it's easily done on my Jazz bass, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I've owned quite a few Squiers, but this one right out of the gate was terrific. I wouldn't even upgrade the pickups I liked them so much.
I wanted the neck for another project, so I threw on a maple neck and cream pickup covers and played it for a while. I would totally buy another though--this jaguar, all stock, was terrific.
I highly recommend the Classic Vibe P. But play several of them. Like 4 or 5. I can hear variation in the different ones I have played. Some are heavy, some are light, some have a open and airy midrange punch, and some have a tight, compressed low end and brighter highs.
Pay no attention to the label on the headstock. Just know that you are going to have to spend more time sifting thru the Squiers to find the right one. If you enjoy "the hunt", find a Squier. But if your time is very valuable, pay more money to achieve a more direct route to a good one.

One thing I will say about the CV p bass is it has a gloss finish on the neck. This can be rubbed away using 000 steel wool. Just be sure to cover your pickups if you do so. Also this may affect the resale value.
I'm a new bassist and just got the 60's P-Bass. It receives generally universal praise from what I've seen online. If there is any guitar that could be bought without trying its this one. The quality control on these things are awesome.

Best is a matter of opinion. Let's just say that the single coil pickups are punchier and better voiced for slapping and the ability to blend neck and bridge make them a better candidate for slap style than a PBass.
