Better sit down for this one...Stingray abuse

Munji has a pink Lakland, and it looks incredible.

OTOH, he's Munji, and HE can pull it off.

IMHO, a lot of it depends on your attitude and skill. Do you have the guts and the chops to rock a pink bass? If so, go for it.

I don't.

I wear pink quite frequently and definitely can pull it off (6'4 260 lb. linebackers typically don't look feminine regardless of what they're wearing :) ).

I want a more modern sound so that kind of eliminates the P- and J-bass but I haven't completely counted them out yet. Active pickups and stuff can usually fix that but that's a whole different story. And I also just like the classic styling the Stingray has.

Munji cuts chunks off his finger tips and serves it in his spaghetti sauce to his family. 3 hours hours later he's gigging that pink bass w/raw flesh and nerves exposed bleeding on the fretboard and smilin'. Semper fi.:)

Pink bass club!!!!!

Pink basses are a bit of a running joke round here. One of the local bands has a female bass player who has a pink daisy rock. The bass player from another band sat in with them for a couple of songs, and everyone took loads of pics of him playing her PINK bass. He got some serious winding up about it.

By coincidence the following they turned up together at one of our gigs, and for the first time ever I'd decided to take out my bc rich warlock... guess what colour it is!! It got loads of positive comments (even though it's an unplayable piece of junk compared to my regular basses), and it was enough fun that I just put a set of QuarterPounder pickups in to beef the sound up. The other bass player's comments were indescribable... I offered to let him try out the warlock for a while, but he declined.

Pink basses get 2 out of 3 votes round here.

One day I was in the park doing curb endos when this really hot girl that lived across the street came up to me. I thought this was my chance to finally hook up with the hottest girl in my school. She came up and said in a mocking, sarcastic voice, "What are you doing on a pink bike? You look like a homo!!" I was devastated for a few hours. You know who that girl was? Mayte Garcia. She became one of Prince's dancers and later married him. I never wore or rode anything pink again.
Here's a pic of her now.

TRUE STORY!!!

Now imagine you had different colour bike and started dating her! Where she would be now?? :eyebrow:

j/k, bro :D

Just ask Randy Jackson if he'll sell his old bass.

I suggest you make it look like Pino Palladino's custom Fender (who else could make a P look manly AND tiny?)...

And if you're after an SR5, throw in a Nordstrand MM5.3 pickup. Or see if they'll retrofit in a Fat Stack or some other pickup that gives you a different tonal palette.

Just thinking out loud here....

Let me tell you about the color pink. I lived in Germany in my middle school years. I ordered a trick BMX bike in the mid 80's and back then neon green, pink, orange, etc. were pretty cool. I got the lavender one, which was more like neon pink when I got it. I loved it when I first got it. It took months to get there but when it did I was the cool kid on the block. I rode it while all the kids watched me ride. One day I was in the park doing curb endos when this really hot girl that lived across the street came up to me. I thought this was my chance to finally hook up with the hottest girl in my school. She came up and said in a mocking, sarcastic voice, "What are you doing on a pink bike? You look like a homo!!" Wait a minute. Mayte Garcia said YOU, not PRINCE looked like a homo.

i kind of want a pink bass now. i had a bike that was offered in a pearl pink called "barbie dream pink"... very cool color. i also have a pink polo shirt that i would wear in highschool. when people came up to me and made fun of me (mind you that im 6'4" and 225 lbs) i would just ask them if they'd ever been beaten up by a guy in a pink shirt before. i also have pink flowers tattooed on my arm
(among other things)
