Big E Speakers Part 4 - Quadraphenia

Swapped my MAS 109 for a Bodai 110. After talking with Mike for a while, it seemed to be the perfect cab solution for what I need right now! Can't wait to get it in my studio. Just waiting on that shipping notification from Mike. Will report back once the cab is here! Also very excited to see what this new amp is going to turn out to be.
I haven't used the Darkglass head, but I have used both the b7k and the VMT deluxe with the standard MAS112. Glorious. I have the Bodai 110s now, and the 112 is natively bigger and warmer. The 112 sounded great with the crisp clean Reidmar 750, but that amp sounded thin and dry with the 110. I switched to the Mesa D800+ and it fattened right up. So, depending on what you are looking for in tone..... the 112 plays very nice with more articulate heads that might sound a bit clinical with other cabs. What is it that you are looking to move away from with the D800?

These speakers weren't around when he died, fifteen years ago. While I dig the Ox, a four-part thread of several hundred pages devoted to his gear would seem to me excessive -- never thought about his gear much, just his playing -- but, apparently, not everyone feels that way: Here is a fairly extensive attempt to catalogue Entwistle's gear, chronologically.
I like to think that a player like Entwistle, as forward as he was with his sound and as willing as he was to experiment with gear (including speaker cabinets) to get it, live, would've dug playing through a Big E/MAS rig. Reading some of the interview quotes from this page is eye-opening -- maybe a huge thread (probably are some) on Entwistle's gear is warranted. I bet he'd have had some interesting conversations with Mike and the Big E guys.

How does that combo work? My 110 sub works great with the Hathor 1203 -- I've tried it (albeit briefly) with some other conventional cabs and it seemed to play nicely. If the 1822 (I think that's the cab atop your two Bodais) plays well with them, you'd still need a pretty loud gig and/or open space to open that combo up, I'd think.
Honestly, I can't think of a scenario that I would need this much sound......but it was fun for a few minutes. I tried the 1822 on top and bottom. With it on bottom I had some weird things going on. Less so with it on top. I think I am going to sell the 1822 and pick up a MAS 109 for a modular 310 stack. That should cover anything I would ever want to do.
Been rocking the Bodai 110 now for about a month. This thing is everything I had hoped it would be. It has the deep and clear low end of the MAS 109, but the punchy and present mid range I have been missing since I sold my 210 flex! Unbelievably loud as well. I didn't think a single 10 inch woofer could get louder than the 109, but Mike found a way. The presence in the highs is the perfect amount. Just enough to accurately represent my fuzzes, slap sound, and that bit of 'air' on top, but lacking all the shrill top end that can be present with cheap compression drivers. Also the dispersion of the mids and highs is really quite incredible. My Dingwall's low B is house rattling when pushing this cab. Only thing I could want more from my sound is to have 2 of these bad boys down the road for bigger gigs!
Also, I'd forgotten how much I missed having a purple cab. Haha.

Just giving you a hard time. I get $hit all the time for having a bigger pedalboard than most guitarists

Owning a 110 Flex, I’ve personally haven’t noticed it lacking in the mids. Can this be described more?
The Bodai 110 looks like another winner in the MAS lineup.

After reading it twice (and as a Flex owner) I suspect he meant "I've been missing since I got rid of my 210 Flex".
I'm curious to know what he really meant.
And that purple Bodai is hawt!
