Hey, Mike, how will this 110 differ from his current 110?

Ok--to clarify
There is a 110 sub that is meant to be exclusively with the MAS45. It has a high pass output for the 45 and is crossed over pretty low. This is not the 110 we're talking about.

We're talking about the 110 sub that is the lower portion of the 210Flex Mod. It has a higher crossover point so you're getting some mids also. The same one as the one you just got.No changes. I'm trying it with the 66 today and am building a (what will be called)MAS 1200ccVOG. It's a 46 and 110 built into the same cabinet.As I said earlier, when you combine the 66 and 110, the 110 becomes the limiting factor. The 46 and 110 have the same fartout point.

Might be good---might suck---we shall see.

I really trust Nomatic's judgement. He has serious ears and gigs all the time. I hadn't considered the 66 and 110. Glad he tried them!

BTW---I see so many threads about guys wanting advice on combining different cabs. They typically get tons of warnings from the "experts" on how you shouldn't combine this and that----you'll wind up in Dante's seventh circle if you combine this cabinet with that cabinet. Of course there are rules (watch your impedence) but my take is---try it. If it sounds good, it's good.I say time and again---we're in the business of sound production, not reproduction Whatever it takes to get you there.

Ok, this MAS112(LPT Essentail) is freakin' insane! I'm driving it with a Walkabout at 8ohms, so it's capable of about 165 watts flat out and I'm running it with the gain and master at 12 o'clock. It's sitting on a Gramma pad, which is sitting on thick carpeting, and it sounds like the house is in the midst of an earthquake! It's making my CD player skip! My Franken P is flat wound heaven and the Guild Starfire reissue sounds... Majestic. Even my Franken Jazz, with which I've had a love/hate relationship since I built it, is sounding pretty good.
I haven't had this much fun playing in quite a while.
I LIKE it!

Now I'd better go check the house foundation for damage.

I quickly shut down the mower and went to sign for my second Flex 110. I confess that with Mike's help (and Kevin Shaw and Bill at Reeves), I am completely and totally spoiled with my two rigs. I was working on breaking in the new one some more a little while ago in my living room with the Shaw B-150. Beautiful. A bit of heaven on earth.

I know I've had my run-ins with Talkbass---but I have to tell ya'---
1. If it weren't for Talkbass I would not be in the speaker business
2. A major force in driving my designs forward has been input from Talkbass members

I hadn't even considered pairing the Flex 210 sub module with the 46 or 66. I trust Nomatic and when he really digs something---there must be something there.
I just built a new (nominally) 8 ohm 66 and a Flex sub. Tried them this afternoon. Holy Moly! I just played a gig with an 11 piece band in a large space yesterday with the 66. So I know what it sounds like. Powerful, balanced and the best extension of all of my cabs. The 66/110 combination is a very fortuitous experiment.. The 66 by itself sounds puny by comparison. And the 66 ain't a puny sounding cab. The 110 is crossed over high enough that there is a lot of midrange to lower midrange happening. For my style of playing ---it's my favorite cab(s). Like Nomatic was saying--the sub fills in to really compliment the 66.
You get the balance and extension of the 66 with the crazy midbass punch of the Flex. It's like the power range has been expanded. One guy bought a 210 Flex and sent it back because it was "too punchy". Punch in the mid to upper bass. I can appreciate that. If you want a huge visceral P-Bass sound---the 210 ain't your cab. I took it back and sent him a 112 and that was perfect for him. The 66 seems to fill in the mid to lower bass when combined with the 110. My style is more R&B and pizzicato funk/fusion. Most of my notes are stopped. So I want the front end of my notes to have kindof a higher-tuned bass drum thump/pop. That's what I like about the Flex cabs. Well the 66/110 sounds like that with a bit more "meat". I've put a second switchable crossover on the recent 46 and 66's to give a bit hotter midrange choice which makes a pretty seamless transition/combination with the 110.
Just cut the wood for the 46/110.

I hope I don't get busted for these comments---I was asked for my impressions and only compared it to my cabs---not anyone else's.

Again---thanks to another TB'er (from Central Wisconsin). If he didn't present me with a design challenge the 112 LPT wouldn't exist.It's not the loudest or deepest of the 112's, but is definitely the fastest/punchiest. Likely my favorite of the 112's.

So could a nut like me put my 4x6 on top of the 2x10 flex non mod I bought from Nomatic and put my Super Bassman 300 2ohm capable driving them both at an outdoor gig. I don't even know the ohms of both cabs. One ten too many to balance with the 4x6?

I think this combo is remarkable actually...
Quick, Lush mids with just the right amount of air and with the sub a hit you in the chest transient impact and low end solidity.

So, we just discovered that playing recorded music through the MAS 115 sounds.... pretty good actually! That was quite the nice surprise. It's obviously not audiophile quality or anything, but it sounded a ton better than I had expected.

Welcome to taste of my world. Crank it and play with the event horizon. Take it outside for the most apparent effect. It won't be as strong in this cab because of the direct mids, but it should show up.
