Big E Speakers Part 4 - Quadraphenia

Enough that the local skating rink with a single 218SLVX got called down for noise. The closest neighbor is at least 3 blocks away.

So I got the 110 sub recently and finally got to do some home noodling with it and the MAS46. Wow, this setup is seriously authoritative, punchy and clear. Not quite as deep sounding as the MAS112, to my ears, but more than enough low end, to say the least. It might even have a low/low-mid hump to it, as Mike said it might (above), but it sounded great to me. Was using a WWU (12oow at 4 ohms) set pretty flat with a boost or submarine through the effects loop. Gets loud pretty darn fast. Seemed to have more high-end and open-ness when daisy-chaining from the sub (vs. straight connection from amp to each cab), which makes sense since that configuration engages a crossover for the connected cab and lets the sub handle the lowest frequencies). Was A/Bing it to an Accugroove Whappo Jr., and they had similar low end punch, but the MAS stack had more punch and attack and throw (the Whappo has the classic AG smoothness and was no slouch, just a little different). Would love to compare the 46/110 to a MAS45/110 just for kicks, but am very pleased with this set-up, and like the modular convenience. Great stuff, Mike. Thanks!

Hey bay area BigE/MAS owners. How about a GTG ? Dee-man has a 4x6 and 10 sub and unless he ships his for sale 1x12 soon we might be able to hear that too. kesslari has a 2x10 flex mod. Superbird has the 109. I have an original 4x8 and a recent 4x6 and a redundant 2x10 flex. We could find a moderate size place so we don't suffer vertigo, and geek out with different amp heads. Anyone interested. We can scope out an intermediate location if there is enough interest.

Would definitely like to attend. I have a couple of Foderas, a Monique, a couple of TC112 V2s and possibly a Reiner Studio 1200 (depending on the date) to contribute to the fun.
