Big E Speakers pt 3

They work fine in the vertical. They are designed to work the best in the horizontal. Just a different tonal balance in the vertical.

The 109 was designed specifically to perform better in the vertical alignment although it too sounds fine horizontal.

Actually the opposite. They seem to be more tolerant of different placement than other speakers I've used.

I got to hear Mtngrown's 48 last night - small bar, rockin' blues band.
Great sound! Full and punchy. Fit the music perfectly and absolutely sounded great.

Thanks, I forgot to bring a 2x4 to lean it back a little, but it worked anyway;) That's the first time I met that guitar player/singer, so more of a "jam". I am looking forward to hearing your fretless through your new Flex. Keep me updated:)

If I actually made more than chump change being a bar band hack, I would ask Mike for a small venue cab too. The vortex really opens up and shines when you are pouring on the coals. The MAS48 could knock the top shelf liquor off the top shelf in that bar:smug: Great options now with Flex. Oh well. I don't buy golf clubs, ski boats, airplanes or any other hobby stuff. What was the weight to output king Mike? 4x6?

IIRC, it was the MAS-66.

seems like aiming one 3" at the floor and the other up in the air
is not going to present a balanced picture to an audience?
I would think getting the 109 up off the ground and horizontal would project better?
might be fun to stack a couple vertical and see what happens.

Either the MAS46---26 x 15 x 13 1/2 41#
pretty close to a 410 or 15 cab

or the MAS66 26 x 22 x 13 1/2 53#
Beats a super 15 cab---like a 610 or a super 212

Also--the 46 and 66 have crazy low end extension---but still focused. In other words---a very usable B string

Actually---it was voiced to be the best balance horizontal. It sounds great vertically but is a bit mid-forward.

As far as the positioning of the mid/tweets---this may sound a bit weird, but what comes out of the port/horn flares tends to pick up the high frequency information and carry it out.

The highs get out there to the audience.

For those who were asking--

Got the 46 from Duke and then Steve.

It will ship to Mark on Sunday to be in time for the Gerald Veasley Bass Camp.

VERY pleased with it.
