Big upgrade in store for meee

Out of all that rant, all I can say is...what the hell is a troll thread.
Posting here and haven't read the TB rules? :rollno:
Probably because you live in canada lol. Jk idk but 4 grand an ear? Jesus id rather be deaf.
Yeah! Canada. $4K. They're even more expensive in the US.
He's not talking 'bout those things you see on TV for $19.95 and if you call in the next ten minutes you get a second set for free. Just pay the extra shipping and handling. Operators are standing by.

The music scene is a struggle all over the world not just in Indiana.

In the late Seventies/early Eighties I was bringing home up to $400 every time I played. Things were a bit different in those days.
Yeah, sure in 1979 dollars. Don't use inflation as an excuse. You can get a big old pile of loud cabs for $238 these days. Couldn't do THAT in 1979. Now if only you had pole barn, you'd be out-playing the headliners at the Toyota company picnic. :roflmao:

I hope you don't damage your hearing on purpose, that would just be a shame.
Once upon a time I used to forgo hearing protection & just walk as fast as I could past the whining gas turbine engines. I was so so wrong for that & now I have hearing loss because of it.
Some nights I can't get to sleep, because of tinnitus. Ironically, it sounds just like those damn gas turbine engines whining.

I worked with a guy who served on an aircraft carrier in the Navy (well duh) repairing jet engines and the same thing, his hearing was compromised to say the least. The point being if you have ever had any interest in Military aircraft and playing loud music there is NO PRACTICAL DIFFERENCE. Protect your hearing. Your ears don't know the difference from being in front of a jet engine or an ultra-loud practice session. I don't know, a lot of research needs to be done in this area. Sound pressure level is the same, whether it's in a concert hall or an aircraft carrier. Think about it, when I am driving down the freeway at 70 MPH and the window is down because the AC is broken and I have to turn the radio up to hear it, WHAT AM I DOING TO MY EARS????
Just a thought.
Will
PS I have tinnitis out the wazzoo.

I mixed FOH for almost 35 years, I preferred mi mix position to be towards the back of the house, and for loud shows I would pop earplugs in after the mix settled down. It was tempting to blow the caution off, some guys gave me a hard time about it, but my career in mixing was important and my career in audio product design was way too important to screw up. My hearing is still well better than average for my age, and no comparison to many of my live event brethren who are looking at hearing aids as their next audio investment.

It's actually weird you mentioned that, I work with a guy whos band just opened for Skillet at our Toyota company picnic like 3 months ago, it's quite a regular thing. I've been told that if we make our set list a little more Family friendly then we could have a spot there as well

Well damn if this is the case then I'm screwed cuz I've only had 1 vehicle I ever had AC in :roflmao:

In all seriousness though we will wear protection, i have experienced the hour of 2 of random high pitched squeals from time to time after a show, booze helps. But earplugs for sure. We have moulded ear plugs we use at work. I guess I'll start wearing one with our stage monitor plug

Wow last night was wild, after the ceremony the real fun began. All I know is after 7 cups of miller lite, 2 glasses of Chardonnay, And 5 Jager bombs....drool I've come to the realization that being a wedding band would be fun af. I mean holy crap man we were in this 3 story million dollar log cabin that had like 9 bedrooms 4 baths, everything was freakin gorgeous, i had an awkward moment with the DJs girlfriend in the bathroom and I'll just leave it at that lol then there was the cake, and the girls gettin hot and taking off their clothes cuz "the tequila makes them do that":woot:

I don't even care if our band makes it huge at this point. That DJ made $850 that night and he was mediocre at best. If we could score something like last night along with our normal shows every month, along with my dayjob I would be one happy camper:thumbsup:

Glad you had fun and no firearms were used after the bathroom incident.
