Astana still has Vino. While almost everyone on the Western hemisphere hates him, he has had a pretty good comeback season all around from small tours, hillier classics, and grand tours. I think he'll have another good year or two left in him. I'm happy to see him back as his attacking style would make Hinault proud.

Meh. It's not that I don't care, but I just don't see this doing much since most evidence is long gone at this point and I just don't think a court system will take the likes of Landis seriously. If they did, I think Lance would have a new lawyer instead of that Foghorn Leghorn guy.

Riis has a good team and has for a while. Having done well in the Tours himself, he and his teams have produced good results all around. The Shclecks may take a few riders, but it's hard to bet against Contador for the next 2 years.

I've done a LOT of touch-up with, seriously here, fingernail polish. If you can find a color match, or at least a close shade, simply brush it on the scratch and go on with your life.

BUT, and since you said it's an aluminum frame; just how deep is this scratch, and what frame is this? If the scratch is indeed down to the bare aluminum and has actually gouged the tube itself, touching up the color may not be your worst problem. Who built the frame, exactly where is the scratch, and can you provide pics of it? Note that I'm not trying to scare you here at all, but some aluminum frames (especially Cannondales) have a very thin wall thickness in some tubes, and it doesn't take much to actually tear a hole in the tube.

its on my tri-cross,
the tube isn't dented, dinged nor scratched by itself. The scratch mostly ate the clear coat but a small portion of the paint was also removed and so I can see a tiny bare alu spot. Thanks for the heads up; I'll make sure to look out for ''developments''.

Actually, I've always kinda liked him myself, and for the same reasons you mentioned. I'm glad that he has a ride now, but Astana will need more than just him to be competitive...I think it'll depend on who else they can round up.

LOL on that bit, but I may have given the wrong impression when asking for thoughts - I meant thoughts on the USADA offer of immunity in exchange for testimony in general, and not just against Lance. I don't think the Lance witch-hunt will ever result in any conclusive result one way or another, TBH.

Many moons ago, on an epic road trip to Oregon, a bud leaned his Cannondale's top tube against the edge of his truck's lumber rack; several hundred miles later, the square edge of the metal rack had worn nearly through the aluminum- it was literally paper-thin. Oldsters might remember when C-Dale MTB's had a 24" rear wheel- this was one of them dinosaurs.

Man, people think mountain biking is dangerous. While MTBers do crash a lot more than roadies, MTB crashes are usually low speed and minor while road crashes tend to be high speed and catastrophic. Road crashes give me the willies.

In other news, 6 days until Whistler, where I will probably crash and hurt myself. :D

Meh, nobody is ever 100% safe. A friend of mine just broke her leg at a MTB race. Usually the fatal crashes are from guys getting hit by cars.

First time I've ventured into this thread...I just assumed it was about motorbikes. Silly me.

I've recently started cycling to uni every day, and I've gotta say it helps the ol' flab dissapear!

it's about 9 miles each way, all on roads, or pavements when the road is full of cars doing 60mph.

Anyone interested in pics of my (well and truly naff) bike?

Mine's the one in front...you can see my mums Shopper and a trike i used to ride when I was a wee lad in the background.

It's one o' dem bikes that looks nice, but it's a pain to ride...in top gear with your legs going like crazy, you can still only do ~28mph, and the saddle won't adjust high enough. Anyone know of a UK supplier where I can get a longer saddle stalk?

That said, I oiled my chain yesterday and it was a noticable improvement. :)

I had my heart set on an '80's Raleigh, twas a beautiful bike, it needed some work done on it, but I can cope with that...someone nabbed it before I did. £20 for a racing bike! Ah well, another will come round. Eventually.

Most bike shop should have a few saddle stem in stock and, if not, they should be able to help you to choose (color, size, adjustment, material, etc) and order one. You will not be able to see it before commiting to buy, but its a sort of no brainer.
