Why? She's a big disposable pop star, and that's often who gets a bunch of Grammys.
She put out a catchy song that's resonated with a lot of younger folks? I'm not a big fan, but I can kind of understand the appeal. Honestly, I find it no more confusing than Christopher Cross sweeping the Grammys back then. I never liked his stuff personally, but it was well-constructed.
Yep. She's a kid and kids like kids who make music. Unfortunately, it takes the legitimacy away from the awards. Used to be great songwriting and timeless songs were the rage. I watched but couldn't stomach much of the performers. Even the Aerosmith/Run DMC thing was hard to watch. I liked the Prince tribute but it was overdone IMHO. Cameras panning every which a way and not focusing on any one thing. Way too much focus on theatrics. Why? She's a big disposable pop star, and that's often who gets a bunch of Grammys.
