Birdsong Club Pt 2

Wow that is a steal for any southpaws out there!

Has anyone ever gone with a four string but with the pickup placement of the five strings? I just got my five and I'm thinking I would love a four string with the same placement, neck pickup right up against the neck as opposed to more of a mid position that the Corto 2 uses.

Here's my pair of 4-string Fusions. The one on the right is cherry, fretless, 8.3 lbs, with TI Rounds. It was a custom build that I bought second-hand. The one on the left is spanish cedar, fretted, 6.3 lbs, with TI Flats. It was a custom build I asked Scott for, so I could have a mostly-matched pair. Love 'em both (but the fretted fusion gets most of the playing time). Rich, warm, and clear.

I generally play them through a Quilter BB800, or Quilter Interbass 45, into a Barefaced One10. Sometimes I play through a Mesa D800 into a Barefaced SuperCompact. Different flavors of delicious :-)

I miss that fretless. Sometimes wish I had not traded it in but sounds like you are playing it way more than I did.

Please post when you get it. would love to hear how you like this. Every once in awhile I become convinced I need a 5 string birdsong.

I played out last weekend with my five. While I still prefer the four string, the five has been growing on me quite a bit. I love the pickup placement on the five and find it more enjoyable than the placement of the same pickups on the Corto2 model.

The extra string makes it easier to play in the same position on the neck and just go down to the B string instead of shifting lower, and it's always fun to let those low notes ring out!

The neck is quite a difference at first. It's not nearly as rounded and obviously wider, but once I adjusted to it it was really a joy to play. Plus it makes me feel like a giant when I go back to the four!
