Absolutely! My general rule is "If you've ordered one and don't have it yet, you're in the club. If you owned one and didn't keep it, you're still in the club."

If you just want to hang out and chat with us - you don't get a "club number", but we love having you around.

Doesn't look like Scott's taking orders right now and I think the c bass I'm drooling over is no longer in production so I'll just be living vicariously through the club members for now. Thanks for letting me hang out!

I own a cbass that also has a neck pickup added—same one as his less expensive "shortbass" model he used to advertise. Just focusing on the split coil PU, dont think you'll find it as bright as the video suggests. Even for 1/5 country thumping I sometimes leave the tone control all the way up, depending on the room and the rig. The tone control itself is, as birdsong says, a very useful, musical tone control. Usable sounds throughout the range but easily able to kill the sunshine if you find the bass too bright. Volume control cut will also chill this bass out (it seems like a pretty hot pickup), but to me produces less satisfying results than with the tone control only. Volume usually wide open on my split coil.

Will try to remember to find some recordings or record something for you.

By the way, I do love blending my special neck pickup with the p pickup for just about everything besides straight up thumping. That blend is more warm and woody and a little less in-your-face than the split coil alone. The dark side of my setup (which I came up with, not Scott) is a smallish amount of room for my plucking fingers in a key spot.

Wide-open, with fresh strings, the C-bass can be bright. Roll back the volume knob from "10" to "9" and it gives a more classic tone. Sorry I don't have an easy sample. The best I can say is "it sounds like a really good P-bass."

With Scott not taking orders, my suggestion is "keep an eye on the classifieds here or on Reverb." They turn up. I also know a friend in Virginia with a C-bass that he's been trying to sell. I can see if he's still interested in letting it go.

That's funny - the Fusion prototype is mine and I never play it, but it's NOT "to spec" compared to the standard Fusion model (different pickup than Scott settled on, different control plate shape, etc.). It also has a metal plate with my name engraved on it tacked to the back. :)

I don't plan to let go of it, but I'm open to persuasion. :)

What amps Birdsong people play? Maybe it's all over the place. First time owing Mesa products, I recently got a Subway WD-800 head with a 1x12 cab also from the Subway series. And my two Birdsongs (the only two basses that I now own, one Skyrider with tapes and one Sadhana with flats, same pickup configuration) have never sound better. Honeymoon period and what not, but I feel that such a Mesa combination makes me a better player :-)

Ampeg pf50t into a Aguilar 115 or a markbass 112 wedge. If I need big volume a markbass 121 combo with 12" extension cab.
