I used to have a PF-50T plus a portaflex 2x10 cab. I might go back to low wattage tube at some point. I really don't need much volume for what I regularly do. Watts are cheap these days, they say

I also will run a Quilter BB800 or Quilter Interbass 45 into a One10.
My report on my new Birdsong 5 string... I have had it a couple months now, but I get to play the it about every other week... I have to take about a week off with each chemo treatment due to the neuropathy on the hands (like when your foot falls asleep, and the pins n needles come on, x100), then it gets better enough as the week goes by to spend some time on the bass again, before starting again.
This thing just sounds so fat n beefy (in the best way possible!) all through the range of the instrument, 5th string aside. I am still exploring the sounds it gives me... but it always just sounds so nice and articulate... anyone who says shorties are floppy n sloppy hasn't played em, or certainly not the right ones... and the sustain is beautiful.
While the neck has a different profile than the Birdsong Cortobass I have had for 14 years, I am amazed at how natural it feels and how easy it is to play in the left hand. My right hand is coming along, getting used to the 5th string... wrong notes are getting scarcer, and I thought I would have trouble with the lower action it came set with, compared to the rest of my basses, but I really haven't. I feel like I am finding my way with the extended range and position options of the 5th string... when the tool is appropriate and tasteful... it now feels less like a 4 string with an extra string and now one instrument (even if my right hand heads to the wrong string once in a while...)
It just wants to be played, and it wants to rock. Right now, when we play something that has a little more rock energy to it, it just feels happy, man... and so do I. Don't get me wrong, I am playing a lot of styles, but this thing has rock at its heart.
Of course it is visually stunning... gets a lotta comments, and I love running my hands over the lines on this thing. It even smells nice... the wood and oil scent is pleasing. I probably look weird raising to my nose to take a sniff every once in a while.
I've made no secret over the years how much I love the Corto. I gotta say, I may love this even more... definitely worth the wait!

My thanks! Aside from the neuropathy and cold sensitivity (in the hands and also I can't drink cold stuff because it feels like a nail is in my throat) and a little fatigue, I am doing better than most. No nausea, etc. My hair was already a lost cause... though I wish my face would go bald. I hate shaving. Thanks for the prayers. I plan on playing bass badly for many years to come...

Has someone reverse engineered the legendary baritone circuit? Lately I have been enjoying the position right in the middle and am curious about what's going on with the circuit.
Just a comparison. Two tracks from my last project home recorded on a BR1200CD. From a bass POV the only difference is the bass. Direct out from a Euphonic Audio 500 head. No settings were changed. On "Tears in Heaven" the Birdsong Mesquito with a single Hot Lace pup. On "What Was It You Wanted" a standard mahogany Birdsong Cortobass. Both basses are fretless. I think it's an interesting contrast. BTW, lead on "Tears" is a ukulele.

I wish I was a better photographer so you could see how beautiful it is. Pics don't do justice, but these are better than I have posted before. I love this bass so much. It is so much better than my skills warrant. But it feels great and sounds sooo gooiood...

Freaking gorgeous. I've had six Birdsongs. Went full fretless and let some go but I still have three including the first fretless Hy5. Thank you for sharing.
There are definitely more than 3, where did you get that number? I currently have this one, and I've seen at least 2 or 3 others over time.
I personally don't dig the routed edge (personally taste), but in every way, that is an incredible looking bass!
