That's great! What kind of wood is that?
the body is Maple & purpleheart and the headstock is Spalted Texas Pecan overlay...We wanted a ying/yang influence ..the #120 is special because that is my goal for life expectancy.

Hey JayDa, thank you very much for buying that one-piece zebra wood Corto inventory body that Scott had available, for a while. I was looking at that every week debating ordering it. You "saved" me! That is absolutely gorgeous. Most, if not all, of his other zebra wood builds were not a single piece body. Let us know how it sounds.

I've been wondering what rigs my fellow Birdsongers are playing their basses through. I recently used an Ampeg SVT rig at a rehearsal studio and the Cortobass sounded so good through it that I'm thinking of getting something similar. I'd appreciate hearing about what you folks are using for amplification and what you think.

No problem man...happy to help! I can't wait to get my hands on that bass. Lot's of changes on the website, customs are available now, and the Odyssey has been added to the lineup.
I use an assortment of Euphonic-Audio amps and cabinets(which are very clean) with a VT Bass Deluxe (when I want it dirty or tubey). I am very pleased with this arrangement.
Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T paired with a SVT-15e or a Hartke Hydrive 112 (always with an EBS Multicomp and sometimes with a Sansamp BDDI). Prior to that, I used a GK 400RB-III with an old Eden 1x12 (along with the svt 15e) or a Hartke Kickback 12.
I've also gigged it through both a 300 watt solid state fender head + 1x15 cab and a borrowed Fender Bassman 300 Pro and an 8x10. All of them sounded great.

Thanks for compliment Corto 048. She's a sweet bass, but I'm still favoring the Skyrider at gigs a bit. It always takes me a while to bond with a new bass.
Hey Ben that new bass of yours is really something special. Scott continues to impress me with the way he puts the different woods together. Almost every month I see the "best one yet!"
Strap locks? I have Dunlops on the Skyrider. I'm still using the stock ones on the Sadhana.
My rig. I mostly play through an Acoustic A200H into 2/10 w/tweeter and a ported 1x15. At some gigs with small stages I use a Sansamp powered DI. It's like having an amp head in the palm of your hand.
The A200H one of the best sub $300 heads I've played through.
These 2 basses have pretty much stilled my GAS (ha!), but I'm thinking about saving up for a bench made Skyrider for when I turn 50. I'm thinking about having Scott watch for a special piece of mesquite that I can put down a deposit on for when I'm ready.
Completely aside from the quality of his work, I really appreciate Scott's outlook and ethics.

I use the standard "buttons" that Scott provided, during his builds in 2006. The front-top-body-button screw, has backed out, at times. Not a problem, as it's obvious before trouble. And if that is the only minor nitpicking inconvenience I can find in this incredibly sounding, absolutely best-playability (to my fingers), short scale bass I have ever touched, I'm delighted.

I'd highly respect the opinions of mazareth, aclecx, eton, all active musicians. In addition to their recommendations, you might explore the fearfull design 15/6, or the nearfull 15/6, that is built by LDS. Oodles of stuff here on TB, with mostly very high appraisals of these cabinets. I have not had the pleasure of hearing one of these designs, but I do remember a handful of TBers who have Birdsongs, who have these cabs. (Makes sense - one who would buy a hand-crafted bass might gravitate towards a custom hand built cabinet maker.)
