Birdsong Club Pt 2

So over the long weekend I gradually broke out most of my "other" basses to give them a try seeing as I haven't played anything but the Birdsong since taking delivery in early July.

All I can say is, Scott has ruined other basses for me. My Warmoth is too noisy (I will try lowering the pups to see if that helps next time I try it). The neck on my Ibby doesn't slide as well under my fingers. I had some success with my MIA Standard Jazz but I can't fret nearly as fast on it when trying to play Black Dog.

I feel like I'm headed towards a gradual replacement of the stable with all Birdsong's. Has anyone else gone down that path? Hopefully Scott isn't planning on retiring anytime soon.

Yes, I am all Birdsong and I don't see that changing any time soon!

Just put in an order for a PB One! Mahogany with matching headstock cap, Rosewood Fingerboard, and Black hardware.
Congrats! I'm glad to see the PB getting so much love here on TB.

Just so you know, Scott is building a couple of PB's with a bridge pickup, similar to the EB-3 from Gibson. One is for me (in a Corto body shape) and I believe Jay has one on order as well. Just in case that was something that interests you. The bridge pickup is the X2NB.

I can't wait for mine. Walnut body with an aged walnut stain and chrome hardware. 2018 can't come soon enough!

Very interested in that. Was toying with the idea of a second Model One like the Tallisman as well.

Was just doing some looking into the X2NB, and that combined with the One at the base of the neck should make for a killer tone. I am all in on that one!

Scott had a Cbass he built recently that he shared online with the X2NB in the bridge and was raving about it, and he recommended using that pickup (a little closer to the bridge like the Gibson's) when I asked about the EB-3 sound.

He did say he would get chrome covers for both my Model One and the X2NB, which should look fantastic with the stained Walnut wood.

Nice! Are you going flats or rounds for strings?

I am going all black hardware.

I had originally asked him how far he would take the Eb3 thing, tried to get him to use the 3 point hipshot bridge and a "real deal" bridge pickup. He said no and we ended up with an X2N under a chrome cover. So that's 3 on order now? Sweet...anyone else here when the builds will start?

All I know is mine is a 2018 serial number. Hopefully he can get them started before the end of the year, but I know the wait will be worth it either way.

Considering selling PB-1 #1 , it's the one featured on the website, and is as new.
Thought I'd ask here before going through the trouble of making a "real" listing.
PM me if interested...
