Well the hy5 has arrived. It's lovely. I had a chance to play it for less than 5 minutes last night before I left for work but can say the construction and feel are fantastic.
Whoa! I though I had to many synths...enjoy it...I was sad to see it go.
I've finally been able to sit down with the Hy5, it's my first fretless and first 5 string. The smaller spacing doesn't bother me due to having played guitar for quite a few years, the 5 strings are throwing me off more. However I can say this is one lovely sounding instrument. Of course now I want to know what the other birdsongs sound like relative to the Hy5. I imagine the neck single with bridge humbucker is the most different from those with the soap bars. Anyway there need to be more properly recorded demos out there~!

I liked the grain match on the Fusion particularly...
In case I hadn't said it recently, this short scale is the F'n bomb! It's deep and rich sounding, truly one of the nicest basses I own although I've never played a Fodera, Marleaux, or Alembic but would like to. Birdsong fits me well and is probably the only 5 string I'd consider. But now I have gas for more obviously. Fretted or not fretted? Fusion or Corto?? Hard calls. I don't play rock or hard stuff really and have been finding myself moving more towards swing and jazz when I play bass although I do electronic music with all my synths. I like having my feet in both worlds. Do you all reckon a fretless Fusion maybe?
I can't imagine that a fretless Fusion could be anything other than an excellent call.....
My Mensinger "Joker" is handling my fretless needs very nicely right now but in the future, a fretless Corto 4 with that gorgeous Delano Xtender pickup may well be on my "must have" list
I'm interested in a cortobass but it's a 9 month wait...….before I pop I think I will look for one used.
Not a bad approach. Birdsong's hold up real well and you can save some money, which you'll need when you inevitably look for a second Birdsong!
