Birdsong Club Pt 2

I see a Birdsong Fusion on my local Craigslist. Just sent a message to the seller. Interested to finally try one
The fusion is a great model. Love the curve on the upper horn and the placement of the pickup.

I have a fusion that is this close to completion. Blackwashed walnut body, with a fretless rosewood board and matching headstock!

Walnut with Rosewood? Nice! Beautiful bass.

Definitely!

I figured the walnut/rosewood combo would fit the fretless sound. Overall just a very woody, earthy looking and sounding instrument. The blackwashed finish was largely to have some consistency with the walnut grain, since walnut can be light and dark all in one piece, plus the darker finish matched the rosewood really well.

This bass looks like it would be right at home in a jazz or blues club. Can't wait for it to be in my hands!

I also have H087 on the build page. A nice and lightweight five string made out of Spanish Cedar.

Very cool, I got a bass with a Spanish Cedar core I really like. Good tone and light weight.

I placed an order with Scott from Birdsong a few weeks ago for an SD Curly that is Walnut with some maple in it.
This will be my first Walnut bass!

That frettless fusion is going to be awesome, I always liked the blackwash look.
My new one is black...but in a different kind of way!

PB-04 should land with me on Monday, it turned into a rat rod half way through the build, I love it.

Next up is Artist #13, and I'm taking a break for awhile!

This is my favorite bass to have ever come out of Scott’s shop. Do you have any sound clips???

I picked up my Corto Bass yesterday! It is amazing. I found myself caressing it...not in a bad way (even though I have those tendencies). Seriously, words are beyond this bass. This post is more about Scott. He is the real deal. The same guy that posts the news blogs and the FB updates is the same guy you get in person. He is all about his craft and artistry.

I feel I must add this. I figured I would, sooner or later. There will be no NBD for this one.
This is between us Birdsong folk who know.
The bass commemorates the 28 years I had with my wife. She's gone.
Every piece, from the wood choices, to the pickups, and the Texas Star have intricate meaning. This bass sits on the last page of the last chapter of our time together.
Scott captured this like no other. I am indebted to him.
