I have a C-Bass Poplar/Rosewood. Really loving it. Scott is currently building a Cortobass for me in Mahogany/Rosewood/black Hardware, matching headstock.
I chose the standard Corto with the Single Coil and Humbucker. He hasn't started routing yet and I'm thinking of possibly going with TWO humbuckers ???
(
edit) after spending some time going over the Bsong threads I've decided to stay with the original order/design of a Single and HB. ROUTE AWAY SCOTT
I'm unable to get a good idea of the difference in tone comparing the neck single coil and the neck Humbucker... at least from the videos. I do understand it would be louder .. that I could tell from the vid and he did state that. I really don't know how much I'd be favoring the neck pickup as it is probably pretty mellow. However I absolutely LOVE the look of the standard Cortobass with the single and humbucker. It is just so classy looking to me. Any feedback is appreciated.
fyi: I play in a 4pc classic rock outfit with two sealed 115 (Berg NV115) cabs and a Quilter BB800.
The C-bass DiMarzio is pretty hot and output works fantastic. I did lower the back portion by the E and A strings for a bit more balance which slightly affected the output.
To the poster above: My Cbass came with Chromes but I switched to the Curt Mangan rounds and happy with those for now. I may go back to flats for the Cbass after I get the new one.
